These three Master's programs require a strong engineering background, including courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanics and material sciences.
Applicants are evaluated by an admission committee on the basis of their previous field of study and grades as well as the other requirements listed below. All applicants must also submit proof of English language ability as described below. Details of the admission requirements for each program are regulated by the admission requirements for each program (Zugangsordnung), which are available in the download center (click at the top of this page).
Applicants should have a Bachelor's or equivalent degree (e.g. German Dipl.-Ing.) in a related field from a recognized university and must demonstrate a solid basis in mathematics and physics.
Applicants to the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering who do NOT have a background in Biomedical Engineering should apply for the program that starts in March, since the bridging courses are offered only in the summer semester. Applicants with a background in biomedical engineering can apply for the programs starting in September or March.
For more information about the program, see the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering homepage.
The Master of Science in Energy Systems program is open to applicants with a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree or German Diplom with high academic standing in mechanical, electrical, or process engineering or related fields. New students may begin in September or March.

Proof of English language ability is required of ALL applicants.
You can prove your ability in English in one of the following ways, with a notarized document as described above.
Applicants from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan are among those countries for which applicants must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores, even if your complete education was in English. Many consulates and embassies require a TOEFL or IELTS score sheet less than six months old at the time of VISA APPLICATION! This is a requirement of the Consulate, not our office!!
The FH Aachen reserves the right to decide if the student’s academic background demonstrates sufficient English knowledge.
Applicants whose native language is not German or did not attend a degree program taught in German at a German-language university must submit proof of German language ability in the form of the language examination “Zertifikat Deutsch.”
Applicants who do not meet this requirement upon admission must, if admitted, submit this certificate by the third semester.

We recommend that all applicants from outside the European Union submit GRE scores from the General Test and an appropriate subject test. These tests are recommended, not required, therefore, we will also review applications without GRE scores.
A copy of your score report should be included in your application.
If the GRE test results will not be available until after the application deadline, you should submit your online application by 15 November for March applicants or by 15 June for September applicants and have your GRE scores sent directly to us to be added to your application. We cannot consider GRE scores that arrive after these deadlines.
Our GRE institution code is 9024. Our TOEFL institution code is 9023.
This must show all secondary and university education, work experience, and everything you have done since finishing secondary school, if completed. Dates must be included. Please limit your C.V. to one page. International students should list any German language courses here.

Starting in April 2012 we will be changing to an online application procedure. Check back at this website at that time for more information and the links to the online application.
We will no longer accept paper applications when we switch to online applications.
You have missed the application deadline for the summer semester 2012.
We are not accepting any applications at this time.
At this time all programs start in March and September of every year.
When you apply online you will receive an application number. You must use this number in all correspondence with us.
We cannot tell you anything specific about your chances of admission before we have reviewed your complete application. If your application is missing any documents, our review will be delayed and could result in your rejection. Therefore it is your responsibility to ensure that your application is complete.
The admission committees do not meet before the application deadline of 15 November for programs starting in March or before 15 June for programs starting in September. All decisions are sent by post, not by email. In most cases all letters for the programs starting in March go out by 23 December or mid-July for programs starting in September. All letters are sent by airmail. We cannot be responsible for delays due to postal systems in other countries.
We cannot give information about applications on the telephone.
We are happy to receive your application and consider you for admission. However, spaces in the Master's programs are limited, so unfortunately not all highly-qualified applicants can be admitted.
