Psychosocial Counselling
Psychosocial Counselling, PSB for short (Psychosoziale Beratung), supports students in coping with personal and study-related difficulties or in preparing for challenging study and life phases. The aim of counselling is to activate your abilities to change your situation and to support you in overcoming crisis situations on your own.
You will be offered an appointment for a first interview with a short waiting period due to the ongoing high demand. We try to offer you an appointment within the next 4-6 weeks. In order for us to be able to specify your issues in advance in a confidential setting, it is possible to arrange a preliminary talk. At this meeting, we will discuss your expectations of counselling and the scope of possible support from the PSB. You will receive an appointment for a preliminary talk within two weeks.
Often, a one-time conversation with a neutral professional already helps to sort out thoughts and find a solution. If necessary, counselling can take up to 6 appointments. If our services are not sufficient, we offer you support in finding suitable contact points or a place in therapy.
The counselling sessions are free of charge and absolutely confidential. If so desired, the counselling sessions can also be held in English.
Die Beratungen sind kostenfrei und absolut vertraulich. Auf Wunsch können die Gespräche auch auf Englisch stattfinden.

- Learning difficulties and concentration disorders
- Problems with self-structuring and organising studies
- Feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed
- Examination anxiety and fear of failure
- Self-esteem problems and self-doubt
- Social difficulties (e.g. conflicts with parents, partners or friends, loneliness)
Have the confidence to talk to us!
For many students, it is difficult to seek psychological counselling. It may help you to realise that with early support, you will be able to move forward on your own all the more quickly.
We try to offer all students seeking help an appointment as soon as possible. However, in order to be able to do this, we rely on your assistance: An individual appointment means that we will take one hour of time for you and only you! If you are unable to keep the agreed appointment and do not inform us in time that you are unable to keep it, we cannot give the appointment to someone else. This then leads to significantly longer waiting times for you and your fellow students.

Da im Moment eine hohe Beratungsnachfrage besteht, kommt es leider zu längeren Wartezeiten für ein Erstgespräch bei der PSB. Termine können in Präsenz, als Videogespräch oder telefonisch stattfinden.
Um die Wartezeit auf einen Termin sinnvoll nutzen zu können, bieten wir Ihnen ein Vorgespräch an. Hier können Sie uns Ihre Situation und Fragestellungen schildern. Wir bekommen so einen besseren Eindruck über Ihre wichtigsten Themen und können Ihnen in einem weiteren Gespräch zielgerichteter helfen. Das Gespräch kann telefonisch oder online über Webex erfolgen.
