What is IOS?

Internationally Oriented Studies (IOS) is an international engineering program designed to offer German and international students with relatively little prior knowledge of German the unique opportunity to study in Germany. German students receive a bilingual engineering degree and study with students from a variety of cultures.

All lectures in the first two semesters are held in English.  Starting in the third semester, all lectures are held in German. During the first two semesters international students take German lessons to improve their language skills.

The standard length of the complete Bachelor's program is 6 semesters (3 years), however, some students may need an additional semester to complete their degree.  Some international students may need longer due to cultural adjustments to Germany and the German university system.

All students without a German Abitur or Fachhochschulreife must demonstrate basic German language skills at the level of Zertifikat Deutsch 75% before enrollment.  Students must pass the German language examination DSH 1 by the beginning of the third semester.

The IOS program is open to German and international applicants.

The next program starts in September 2012.
