All admission decisions are made solely by the FH Aachen / University of Applied Sciences, Jülich Campus, Internationally Oriented Studies program. 

If you do not meet the admission requirements for the IOS Bachelor's program, you may still be eligible for the Freshman Program, which offers a preparatory year.

Applicants from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan are among those from countries who must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores that meet our admission requirements, even if your education was completely in English.

Bosnia and Herzegovina
either Svedocanstvo-Svjedodzba o Zavrsenom Obrazovanju or Diploma o Zavrsenoj Srednjoj Skoli or Diploma o Zavrsenoj Srednjoj Strucnoj Skoli or Svjedodzba o Maturi or Diploma o Zavrsenoj Gimnaziji, all of which also require a university acceptance examination in a field related to the intended field of study or, if you do not have a university acceptance examination, then one year of successful university study. 

Brazil
Terceira Série do Segundo Grau or Terceira Serie do Ensino Medio, including the subject and mark report from the Histórico Escolar 2°Grau, or Habilitacao Profissional or Diploma über den Titulo de Technico  with the subjects Portuguese, mathematics and natural sciences, a foreign language, and social sciences plus proof of two years of successful university studies in a field related to the intended field of study. 

Bulgaria
either Diploma za (zavarseno) sredno obrazovanie from a general or special secondary school without university study; or Svidetelstvo za zrelost, Diploma za sredno obrazovanie from a technical (“Berufsgymnasium”) or vocational secondary school, Svidetelstvo za zrelost i kvlifikacija, or Diploma , all of which also require one year of successful university study. 

Burkina Faso

Cambodia
Attestation de Fin d’Etudes Secondaires de L’Enseignement Général plus proof of 3 years of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.

Cameroon
either Diplôme de Bachelier de L'Enseignement du Second Degré or Attestation de Réussite or Diplôme de Bachelier de Technicien or Attestation de Réussite or General Certification of Education Examination with Result Slip with 4 O-levels and 3 A-levels in math or natural sciences, plus French or English at O- or A-levels.  The A-level exams must have been passed at one sitting.
All documents from Cameroon must be notarized at the German embassy.  We do not accept documents notarized by a notary, judge, lawyer or school.

Canada
In general, a Senior High School Diploma or similar document, with one year of successful university study, however this varies from province to province. Please contact us for details.
British Columbia
Secondary School Graduation Diploma and Senior Secondary School Statement plus one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study. In addition, the secondary school requirements must include proof of a minimum of 13 successfully completed courses in Grades XI and XII, with a minimum of 5 courses in Grade XII. The Senior Secondary School Statement must show two languages, with one having a course number 12, and mathematics and a scientific course, one of which must also have a course number of 12. The grade average must be a minimum of C+. 
Ontario
Ontario Secondary School Diploma and Student Transcript with at least 6 Ontario Academic Courses (OACs) including two languages, math, one natural science and 2 other subjects, with a grade point average of 65% in the OACs or Ontario Secondary School Diploma and proof of one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended study field with at least 3 OACs and a grade point average of 65%, including a language and a mathematic or scientific subject. 

Chad
Diplome de Bachelier de l'enseignement du Second Degré (or Certificat d'Admission), Diplome de Bachelier de Technicien (or Certificat d'Admission), Baccalauréat Arabe du Second Degré, Examen Spécial d'Entrée dans les Facultés or Certificat de Capacité en Droit (with an average grade of at least 10/20), all of which also require one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study. 

Chile
Licencia de Ensenanza Media Científico-Humanista or Licencia de Educación Media, both of which must have either a certificate showing 600 points on the examination Prueba de Aptitud Académica, or if fewer than 600 points, proof of this exam plus plus proof of one year of successful university studies in a field related to the intended field of study. 

China
All applicants from China must first send their application to the "Prüfstelle" in Beijing. After your application has been certified by the "Prüfstelle" you can send your application and the certification to us.

Georgia

German entrance qualification for Fachhochschulen or equivalent: Fachhochschulereife or allgemeine/fachgebundene Hochschulreife.

Ghana
either General Certificate of Education (GCE) or School Certificate and Higher School Certificate, with English, 3 O-levels (one in math or natural science) and 3 A-levels (two in math or natural sciences) or Senior Secondary School Certificate, all of which also require one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study or Higher National Diploma, first class.

Greece
Apolitirio from a Lykio after 2000 with a technical specialization or Apolitirio with the Ergängungsprüfung from the German school in Athens or Thessaloniki, all with a minimum of 10 points.

Hong Kong
Hong Kong Certificate of Education and Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination. The Hong Kong Certificate must have 7 subjects, with at least 6 in one examination session, including English (syllabus B), Chinese or another language, mathematics. The Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination must have Advanced Supplementary Level in "Use of English" and Chinese Language and culture, plus 3 Advanced Level subjects or 2 Advanced Level Subjects and 2 Advanced Supplementary Level subjects in fields related to the intended fields of study. 

India
Qualified secondary school leaving certificate after 12 years and one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study or proof that you passed BOTH PARTS of the Joint Entrance Examination to the Indian Institutes of Technology.
All documents from India must be notarized by a notary or the German embassy.  We do not accept documents notarized by a school, university or other agency.
Do not send documents notarized and sealed in individual envelopes.  The documents themselves must be notarized.
Applicants from India must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores that meet our admission requirements.

Indonesia
Surat Tanda Tamat Belajar or IJAZAH Sekolah Menengah Atas bzw. Madrasah Aliyah (SMA / MA), both of which also require a certification of authenticity issued by the Ministry of Education or the schoolmaster and two years of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.

International Baccalaureat
The minimum requirements for the International Baccalaureat are:  

1. 2 languages, including foreign language as language A
2. biology, chemistry or physics
3. Mathematical Methods or Mathematics HL or Further Mathematics with Mathematics HL
4. history, geography or economics
5. another of the above subjects or art/design, music, theatre arts, another modern foreign language, latin, classical Greek, general chemistry, applied chemistry, environmental systems, computer science, design technology, philosophy, psychology, social anthropology, business and organisation
6. 3 courses at Higher Level, including foreign language A and either math or biology, chemistry or physics
7. all subjects with a minimum mark of 4, or if you have a 3, then ther must be a course at the equivalent level with a 2.

Iran
Secondary School Leaving Certificate after 3 years of secondary school plus one year of pre-university or Secondary School Leaving Certificate after four years of secondary school.  Both of these also require proof of the interuniversity university admission examination plus one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.  Students at the Islamic Azad University must show proof of 4 years of university study.

Iraq
Baccalaureate Examination for Secondary / Preparatory Schools or for the Preparatory Technical Schools plus one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended area of studies or Diploma from a Techn(olog)ical Institute.

Ireland
Leaving Certificate from the Department of Education, with the following minimum requirements: 6 independent subjects, at least 2 of which are languages and one mathematics, 2 in the higher paper, at least 2 of which must have the minimum mark of C3, and 4 in the ordinary paper or higher paper, which must have the minimum grade of D3. In addition, mathematics must have the minimum note of C3 in the higher paper and one scientific subject with a note D3 in the Higher Paper. In addition, it is recommended that you have 2 scientific subjects with the minimum note D3 or preferably C3 in the higher paper.

Israel
Te'udat Bagrut with the the following units in the Matriculation Certificate issued by the Ministry of Culture and Education: 3 units of mathematics, 4 units of English and 4 units of another subject.

Jordan
either General Secondary Education Certificate or Certificate (academic) plus one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study of General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (vocational), plus two years of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study or Community College Examination Diploma in a field related to the intended field of study.

Kenya
either Kenya Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (KACE) with 3 subjects in KCE (,minimum mark “credit,” at least one math or natural science) and 3 in KACE (minimum mark of C, and at least 2 math or natural sciences) or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)  with a minimum mark of C+ and one year of university study in a field related to the intended field of study, or Technician Part III Certificate, also with one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study, or Higher Diploma in a field related to the intended field of study.

Kuwait

Minimum requirements also include at least 5 independent subjects in the STPM, 3 of which must have the marks A-E and 2 of which must have the mark R and in the G.C.E. 3 subjects with the marks 1-6.

Mexico
either Bachillerato General, Certificado de Bachillerato-Sistema C.C.H. or in a scientific field of study one of the following certificates: Bachillerato Unico, Bachillerato Tecnologico, Certificado de Bachillerato (U.N.A.M.), Certificado de Bachillerato from a Preparatoria Tradicional, Certificado de Bachilllerato from a Preparatoria Abierta or Certificado de Bachillerato from Secretaría de Educación Pública (S.E.P.). ALL of these certificates must show proof of one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended area of studies, with a minimum of 7 points. 

Moldavia
Diploma de bacalaureat al invatamintului secundar general or Attestat über die allgemeine Mittelschulbildung with gold medal, both of which require one year of full-time university study or equivalent part-time study in a field related to the intended field of study.  Certain other secondary school certificates may also be accepted if you have two years of full-time university study in a field related related to the intended field of study.

Mongolia
Secondary School Leaving Certificate plus proof of two years of successful university studies in a field related to the intended area of studies.

Morocco
Baccalauréat de l'enseignement Secondaire with one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.

Namibia
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE, minimum mark C) and Higher International General Certificate of Secondary Education (HIGCSE, minimum mark 3) with 5 subjects, at least 4 in HIGCSE including English and one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study. 

Nepal
School Leaving Certificate Examination plus proof of completion of the 11th and 12th school years with the Academic Transcript or Proficiency Certificate for Grade XI and XII, and one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of studies.

New Zealand
New Zealand Higher School Certificate plus successfully completed University Entrance, Bursaries, and Scholarships Examination or New Zealand Scholarship with at least 24 credits in level 4 in a minimum of 3 independent subjects, or the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) with specific credit combinations.

Nigeria
Either: 1.  General Certificate of Education with 2 A-levels in math or natural sciences and 3 O-levels or School Certificate (with a minimum mark of 6), one in math or natural sciences plus proof of one year of successful university studies in a field related to the intended area of studies or 
2.  Senior School Certificate with 5 subjects with the mark “credit,” including one language and one math or natural science with a maximum of 2 sittings for the Senior School Exam, all of which also require proof of one year of successful university studies in a field related to the intended area of studies

Saudi Arabia

Singapore
Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education with Advanced Level Examination and Ordinary Level Examination, with 5 independent subjects in O-Level and A-Level; 3 subjects in O-Level marked with C or better, 2 subjects from the field of mathematics and naturals sciences in A-Level.  The O-levels or A-levels must also include English and one other language.

South Africa
Matriculation Certificate, Preliminary Notice with remark: "Pass: Matriculation Certificate" or Senior Certificate with remark: "Endorsement", all of which require 6 general subjects in Higher Grade, including math, 1 natural science and two languages, all of which must have a minimum mark of C, or one of these certificates without all these subjects but with mathematics, but then proof of one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study is required. 

Spain

 All documents from Sudan must be notarized at the German embassy.  We do not accept documents notarized by a notary, judge, lawyer or school.

Syria
General Secondary Education Certificate, Scientific section, with a minimum mark of 70% or the Technical Secondary Certificate with the proof of immatriculation or certificate of admission to university, plus one successful year of university study in a field related to the intended field of study. 

Sweden
either Avgangsbetyg Gymnasieskolam, Slutbetyg Gymnasieskolan, Avgängsbetyg enligt bestämmelserna för kommunal och statlig vuxenutbildning - Vuxengymnasium, or Slutbetyg kommunal vuxenutbildning, Intyg om allmän/särskild behörighet/Folkshögskola, or Intyg för behörighet till högskolestudier, all of which must have a minimum note of Physics B, Chemistry A or B, Biology B, and Mathematics D or E, depending on the field of study.

Taiwan
Senior High School or Senior Vocational School Leaving Certificate plus two (or in some cases three) years of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study and certificate of passing into junior year or Certificate of Graduation showing successful completion of 3 years of study at a business or technical college or Bachelor’s Degree.

Tanzania
Certificate of Secondary Education (C.S.E.) and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.) with six independent subjects, four of them C.S.E., at least one in a mathematical-scientific field and two of them A.C.S.E., both in a mathematical-scientific field. 
 All documents from Tanzania must be notarized at the German embassy.  We do not accept documents notarized by a notary, judge, lawyer or school.

Thailand
Mathayom VI or Certificate of Vocational Education Grade 12 plus in both of these an official English subject and marks certificate or final examination of the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School and for all of the above, proof of two years of successful university studies in a field related to the intended area of studies. 

Trinidad
General Certificate of Education (O-level) or Caribbean Examination Council Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), both of which also require General Certificate of Education (A-level). The following requirements must be met: 5 independent academic examination subjects, including English. The A-levels must have 2 mathematic/science subjects with a minimum mark of E. The O-levels must have a minimum mark of C, and one of the exams must be in a mathematic/science subject. CSEC exams must have a minimum mark of II. If the applicant only has 4 subjects instead of 5, 3 have to be in A-levels

Tunisia
Baccalauréat de l'enseignement Secondaire , in sciences, mathematics or technique section or Diplôme de Technicien with Certificat de la 7 ème Année Spéciale, all of which must be in a field related to the intended field of study.

Turkey
Lise Diplomasi or Meslek Lisesi Diplomasi (11 or 12 years) and proof of successful university entrance exams (code card in a field related to the intended field of study) and, in some cases up to two years of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.  Your code card score and other academic requirements must meet the requirements as described on the website www.anabin.de. Final determination about admission can only be made upon receipt of your complete application with notarized documents.

Uganda
Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), with five independent academic subjects, including both English and a mathematic-scientific subject. In addition, in the UCE, 3 subjects must have a minimum mark of 6 and in the Principal Level of the UACE, 2 subjects must have a minimum mark of E. There must also be a total of 3 mathematic-scientific subjects, of which at least 2 must be in the Principal Level.

Ukraine
Secondary School leaving Certificate plus two years of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.  If you have the “Gold Medallion” you may also qualify for admission after one year of university study.  Please check with us for details.

United Arab Emirates
General Secondary Education Certificate Scientific Section plus proof of one year of successful university studies in a field related to the intended area of studies. 

United Kingdom:
England, Wales, Northern Ireland:
O-levels and A-levels.

United States of America
High School Diploma, with 16 academic units in grades 9-12, including 4 in English, 2 in a second language, 3 in social studies, 2-3 in mathematics, 2-3 in science (for a total of 5 in math and science), and 2 electives, with a GPA=3.0 and 1300 points on the SAT or the above courses and 4 AP examinations or a high school diploma and 2 years of university study in a related field of study.  Please contact us for details.

Uruguay
either Bachillerato Tecnico from the UTU or Bachillerato Oficial, both of which require the subject and marks certificate for the Cicio Superior or the Certificado des Estudios des INADO. All certificates must be in a field related to the intended field of study, plus 1 year of university study in a field related to the intended field of study.

Venezuela
Certificate of Titulo de Bachiller, Mención Ciencias or Humanidades or Certificate of Titulo de Bachiller Industrial or Titulo de Tecnico Medio, all in a field related to the intended field of study and all of which also require proof of successful participation in the Prueba de Aptitud Académica and 2 years of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study. 

Vietnam
Bang Trung Hoc Pho Thong, Bang Tu Tai  or Giay Chung Nhan, all of which require proof that you have passed the university entrance exam; the intended course of study has to be among the group of subjects that were tested in the entrance exam, plus one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.

Yemen
either Certificate of Completion of the General Secondary Education, Technical Secondary School Certificate or Certificate of Completion of the Secondary Education (General Secondary Certificate), all in math or science, all of which also require one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study.

Zambia
either (Zambia) School Certificate or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O-level with 5 independent, academic subjects with the mark "credit" or better, including 2 languages and one math or science plus one year of successful university study in a field related to the intended field of study or a Bachelor's degree from a four-year, full time program at an accredited university.

Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe General Certificate of Education at Ordinary Level and Advanced Level meeting the requirements below or Cambridge (Overseas) Higher School Certificate or National Intermediate Diploma from a technical college or polytechnic. The Cambridge certificate must also meet the following requirements: one subject must be English, GCE O-levels must all have a minimum mark of C, Cambridge School Certificates must have a minimum mark of 6. In addition, there must be 3 subjects in the GCE O-level (or Credit Standard of the School Certificate/Subsidiary Standard of the Higher School Certificate) and 2 in the GCE A-level (or Principal Subject Standard of the Higher School Certificate) or 1 subject in the GCE O-level (or Credit Standard of the School Certificate/Subsidiary Standard of the Higher School Certificate) and 3 subjects in the GCE A-level (or Principal Subject Standard of the Higher School Certificate). In addition, you must have 3 mathematical-scientific subjects in the A-levels or Principal Subject Standard. Please contact us for updates on these details.

Bewerber aus Bangladesch, Indien, Nepal und Pakistan müssen einen TOEFL oder IELTS vorlegen, auch wenn der Unterricht auf Englisch gehalten wurde. Viele Konsulate und Botschaften verlangen einen TOEFL oder IELTS, der weniger als sechs Monate alt ist zum Zeitpunkt der VISA APPLICATION! • TOEFL Ergebnis von 68 im Internet basierten Test (IBT) oder einem Äquivalent. Unser TOEFL Code ist 9023.

• IELTS. Anforderung: minimale Punktzahl von 5.5

• University of Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE). Dieser Test wird oft von Deutschen Volkshochschulen angeboten.

Bewerber aus Bangladesch, Indien, Nepal und Pakistan gehören zu den Ländern, aus denen Bewerber TOEFL oder IELTS vorlegen müssen, auch wenn der Unterricht auf Englisch gehalten wurde.

Proof of German language ability is required of ALL international applicants except those with a German Abitur or Fachhochschulereife.  

• Zertifikat Deutsch.  The minimum score requirement is 75% on the Zertifikat Deutsch for admission to the first semester of the IOS program.  This certificate is a B1 level exam in the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages," however, applicants must have 75%.
• DSH 1.  The German language examination DSH 1 is required by the beginning of the third semester.  This is a B2-C1 level exam.  Details about this examination will be available upon your arrival in Jülich.
