Applied Mathematics Meets Informatics

With the Scientific Programming degree programme, FH Aachen offers you the perfect practical combination of these subjects, providing you with the opportunity to apply everything you've learned directly to your apprenticeship. Within a three-year timeframe, you will earn a fully-fledged Bachelor of Science degree with a variety of professional and academic perspectives along with it. You will also complete a demanding vocational training as a mathematical technical software developer. In this dual study system, more than 80 companies from Köln, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Aachen und Jülich offer apprenticeships and train their junior staff.

Scientific Programming Becomes Angewandte Mathematik und Informatik (Applied Mathematics and Informatics)

The dual study programme Scientific Programming was introduced at FH Aachen in order to train mathematically qualified programmers that are needed in research and business. As it is particularly suitable with regard to both study contents and the requirements in practice, the combination with training as MATSE (Mathematical Technical Software Developer, IHK) was chosen as the apprenticeship occupation. However, in the past the name Scientific Programming sometimes led to confusion, since it is not an English-language degree programme. Therefore, in 2018, the faculty plans to rename the degree programme to what it comprises: Angewandte Mathematik und Informatik (Applied Mathematics and Informatics).
