Coming to Jülich

By Car

from Aachen to Jülich | Take the A44 towards Düsseldorf.  Exit at Jülich-Ost.  Continue towards Jülich (B55).  Take the third exit out of the traffic circle.  Turn left at the next street.  Drive past the building to the parking lot behind it.  

from Düsseldorf to Jülich | Take the A46 and A61 to the A44 towards Aachen.  Exit at Jülich-Ost.  Continue towards Jülich (B55).  Take the third exit out of the traffic circle.  Turn left at the next street.  Drive past the building to the parking lot behind it. 

from Cologne to Jülich | Take the A4 to the Kerpen exchange to the A61 towards Venlo.  Exit at Jülich (Bergheim/Elsdorf).  Continue towards Jülich (B55).  After about 20km exit at Jülich/Mersch.  Continue towards Jülich (B55).  Take the third exit out of the traffic circle.  Turn left at the next street.  Drive past the building to the parking lot behind it. 

By Train

From Düren (on the train line between Aachen und Cologne).  From Düren take the Rurtalbahn to the Jülich main train station (Bahnhof) or to continue on to the suburban station "Jülich-Nord."  The train trip takes about 20-30 min. Information about the trains is available at www.bahn.de

From the main Jülich train station (Bahnhof).  Take the bus 270 to FH Aachen.  The ticket price is included in the Rurtalbahn train ticket from Düren. 

From the suburban train station Bahnhof Jülich-Nord.  Walking time to campus is about 10 minutes.  Walk from the train station platform left about 50m left past the gasoline station towards Neusser Straße.  Then go left under the bridge.  Turn right on Haubourdinstraße.  Walk up Haubourdinstraße (slightly uphill) towards the university.

There are often taxis at the main train station but never at the suburban train station Jülich-Nord.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel von den Flughäfen nach Jülich

We do not pick students up at the airport. Please use the directions below to get to Jülich from the airport.

The website www.bahn.de has information about trains from these airports to Jülich.  The local train from Düren to Jülich and Linnich is the Rurtalbahn www.rurtalbahn.de.

Please note that the last train leaves Düren for Jülich at around 22:00 (10 p.m.).

From Frankfurt, Germany: Take the train from the airport to Köln (Cologne). Then take the train from Köln to Düren, then change trains for Jülich. Travel time approximately 3-4 hours.

From Düsseldorf, Germany: There are trains to the Düsseldorf main train station at frequent intervals. Take the train from Düsseldorf to Cologne (Köln) to Düren, then change trains for Jülich. Travel time approximately 1-2 hours.

From Köln-Bonn (Cologne), Germany: Take the train from the airport to the main train station in Köln (Cologne). Take the train from Köln to Düren, then change trains for Jülich. Travel time approximately 1-2 hours.

From Aachen, Germany: By bus or train. From the bus station take the bus to Jülich (usually bus number 11 or SB11 (with a transfer)) or take the train to Düren, then change trains for Jülich. Travel time approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

From Maastricht, Netherlands: Take the shuttle bus from the Maastricht Airport to the Aachen main railway station. Take the train from Aachen to Düren, then change trains for Jülich. Travel time approximately 2-3 hours.

From Amsterdam, Netherlands: Take the shuttle transfer to the main train station, then take either the train to Köln (Cologne) or Aachen.  Take the to Düren, then change trains for Jülich. Travel time approximately 4-5 hours.

From Brussels, Belgium: Take the shuttle to the main train station, then either a direct train to Düren or take the train to Aachen and change to the train to Düren. Then change trains for Jülich. Travel time approximately 3-4 hours.
