In close cooperation with the faculty of Business Studies and the faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, the FH Aachen has developed the bachelor degree program “Engineering Management”. The cross-disciplinary program has a well-balanced combination of engineering and business studies.
Engineering Management is a full-time bachelor degree program with a volume of 210 credits and a module structure that stretches over seven semesters. The individual modules are based on different forms of teaching and studying, such as lectures, seminars, tutorials, laboratory trainings, individual studies, and examinations. The program consists of compulsory and elective modules, a research project, the bachelor thesis and its defense. The cross-disciplinary program content is taught fundamentally in the core curriculum and later on extended in two specialization options: Engineering Management or Sales Engineering.
Students specializing in Engineering Management acquire extended knowledge about internal processes (e.g. quality management, corporate management, and logistics), whereas those specializing as Sales Engineers focus more on customer-related processes (e.g. sales, communication, negotiation skills). Graduates of this degree program develop concepts that affect the whole value chain of a company. They check the feasibility and profitability of projects, analyze markets and customers, develop marketing strategies, advise and train customers, and set up the sales and revenue planning. Additionally, they make offers that take into account technical and economical aspects, and develop and optimize solutions that require technological and economic knowledge as well as strategic thinking.
