The Master’s course of study at FH Aachen made my dream to study automotive engineering in Germany come true. A well-structured programme including individually chosen courses kick-started my career in the automotive industry. The faculty is keen, approachable, and always ready to offer guidance. Life in Aachen has been great, with lots of activities and opportunities to interact withlocal and international students. All in all, I would recommend studying in Germany.

The vibrant student life in Aachen with its huge population of international students and FH Aachen being ranked every year as one of the top FHs in Germany made FH Aachen my dream university while applying to automotive engineering master's courses in Germany.

State of the art labs, professors who have had decades of practical experience in the industry, excursions to companies and guest lectures from industry experts makes sure that you are at the cutting edge of technology. One of the best aspects of the course is that the lectures are supplemented with hands-on practical sessions where you can apply the knowledge gained from the course directly on projects using the tools and hardware being currently used by the industry for their R&D work.

Hence, I believe that the Masters’ program is an excellent springboard to a successful career in the automotive industry not only in Germany but also the entire world.

Career Fields

The qualifications that are required in the development departments of the automotive industry cannot be interpreted as purely technical CAE tasks. The range of services extends far beyond this. Among other things, it includes fields such as project management, testing operations, the development of software tools, etc. The development processes in the automotive engineering segment can be divided into five main phases:

  • Development/Construction
  • CAE Verification (simulation, computation, prototyping, development)
  • Testing and Validation
  • Homologation
  • Project Management

The courses of the International Automotive Master's degree programme focus on the integration and calibration of powertrain systems — consisting of engine and transmission — as well as the integration of chassis systems into the complete vehicle concept.

Graduates of the Master's Program undertake a veriety of application orientated tasks in module integration, development, construction and manufacturing of automobile systems. They plan, calculate and produce intelligent cooperating mechanical, electronic and technical information components and integrate them spatially and functionally with methods from mechanical, electrical, and information engineering in the automobiles.

Graduates will therefore find their jobs with manufacturers and suppliers of the automotive industry predominantly in vehicle integration teams aiming for low fuel consumption, low emissions, low engine and vehicle noise, as well as high comfort and performance. Due to the internationality of the Master’s degree programme, the graduates' job opportunities are not limited to Germany.
