Summer semester courses start March 30, 2020 and end on 3 July 2020 followed by an exam period of two weeks. Current governmental requirements foresee courses to be offered online until further notice. It is not clear when or if we will be able to offer classroom courses during the current semester. We will inform you immediately regarding new governmental requirements and decisions.

I have general questions about the course of the summer semester, the organisation, examination organisation, etc. Who can I contact?

Please send general questions (including questions about the Bachelor's or Master's programme, registration deadlines, etc.) to the email address: coronainfo.fb6(at)fh-aachen.de. Emails to this address will be answered promptly and answers to the most urgent questions will be published here in the FAQ.

I am in a special situation and I am particularly hard hit by the current measures. Can I claim a hardship case?

Only the examination board decides on cases of hardship. In these cases, please contact the Examination Office with your request by e-mail (pruefungsamt.fb6(at)fh-aachen.de).

How do I get information about my courses?

If you have not already done so, please register promptly in CAMPUS for the courses you have taken. By 30.03.2020 at the latest, you must also register in ILIAS for the relevant courses. Please visit the ILIAS page of the respective lecturer. On ILIAS the lecturers will provide you with all further information on lecture notes, semester organisation, possible online offers etc.

When do the 3a examinations of the Feb/March examination period take place?

Can my final colloquium take place?

Final colloquium can take place as planned, but should be held via video conferencing system. Please discuss details with your university supervisor.

When will exam inspection be possible for the exams taken in February and March?

The inspection dates will now gradually be published on the website of the Examination Office.
Please contact your first examiner for exact time slots and procedures.

What happens to preliminary exam performances (compulsory internships or similar) during the online teaching phase?

Compulsory internships and similar compulsory attendance courses, which have to be completed as a prerequisite for the examination, will be cancelled like all other attendance courses in the online phase (probably by 20.04.2020). Those responsible for the module can define substitute performances or postpone events to the attendance phase. Details will be announced by the module supervisors.

Can I register my Bachelor or Master thesis now?

In principle, the registration can take place at any time. However, we would like to point out that the execution of external theses in particular may experience considerable, unforeseeable delays due to the uncertainties in the industry. Thesis registrations should therefore be made with caution and with due consideration of the uncertainties. In case of doubt, the registration should rather be postponed for a few weeks. Please discuss this question with your university internal supervisor.

Can I use FB6 rooms for learning during the online phase?

The buildings of FB6 are closed to the public until further notice. The rooms of FB6 can therefore not be used.

I urgently need a signature or documents from professors, examination office or secretariat. Can I visit the department in person for this?

As in most companies, almost all employees and professors are in home offices and offices are generally closed to the public. Therefore, please contact the respective offices preferably by email. You will then be informed how to proceed with signatures or documents by mail or electronically.

How and where can I submit my thesis during the time that FH is closed to students?

Please submit a pdf of the bachelor thesis version to be printed to your thesis supervisor and the examination office before the deadline. This counts as fulfilment of the submission deadline. The examination office will inform you how to proceed with the printing version and the corresponding signatures.

How are GC courses implemented?

PO2012s sixth semester will not be shortened this year. It will begin on March 30 with the online phase and end with the regular lecture period on 3 July 2020. Exams will not be brought forward but held during the regular examination period from 6 to 17 July 2020.

How will barring for the exams be handled regarding the exams which couldn´t take place now?

BPO § 15(1) (Admission to higher semester exams) will not be applied to the exam period of July 2020 where module exams KE 1, Datenverarbeitung and Thermodynamik were taken successfully i.e. the requirements of BPO §15 (1) were fulfilled, provided there was a registration for the March exams.

Is practical project 1 (pp1) cancelled because of the changes to the exam phase in the sixth semester? Or how shall practical project 1 be incorporated into the extended sixth semester?

pp1 was not cancelled. In the current situation it is feasible not to continue with the demanding shortening of the sixth semester. Someone studying within the standard study period would sit the last exams in June. This means that pp1 can be concluded during the lecture-free time between semesters without sacrificing time in the seventh semester with practical project 2 (pp2) and the thesis. The current organization does not disadvantage anyone.
