Aerospace Engineering

Subject Area Space Technology

In the field of space technology, we conduct research in national and international cooperations in the area of planetary and orbital exploration.
The necessary space technology processes, components and systems are largely developed, built and qualified in-house. The specialization in space technology can be completed with either a Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Science degree.
Both teaching and researching professors contribute years of experience from industry and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) respectively:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Czupalla

  • Systems engineering, analysis and design
    of spacecraft, space payloads
    (especially optical) and innovative
    Spacecraft components
  • Specialization in Thermo-Opto-Elastic
  • Research in the field of manned space-
    the design and optimization of
life support systems for Mars and
    Lunar missions

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Dachwald

  • Analysis, design and optimization of
    space missions and intelligent
methods for web optimization of space-
    vehicles
  • Development of future, innovative
    space technologies like solar sails
    and melting probes
