Registration

Registration

You cannot take part in any examination unless you are registered and admitted. The obligation to register for an exam applies regardless of the form of examination and applies to written exams, assignments, presentations and other forms of exams.

Registration is generally carried out through  HIS QIS. To do so, you need your user details of your university account of FH Aachen.

Should you have any problems when registering through HIS QIS, please contact the examination office.

We sometimes hear about problems from students trying to register for improvement attempts that are not going to be taken during the examination period immediately after the first attempt but only in the second or third period thereafter. Those registrations can only be made in-house at the examination office.

Admission to examinations

Admission to examinations

Please check if you have been admitted to an exam before sitting the exam. Immediately after the registration, you can open the item “Information on registered exams” via HIS QIS in your personal exam administration and check the status of your registrations.

Withdrawal from examinations

Withdrawal from examinations

A withdrawal from exams in due time is possible up to eight days before the respective examination date. You can make the withdrawal online on HIS QIS or personally during the business hours at the exmination office or by E-Mail (pruefungssekretariat(a)wirtschaft.fh-aachen.de).

In case of a withdrawal (e.g. for illness) after the deadline, the examination board must immediately be informed in writing about the withdrawal and the reasons for it, i.e. generally not later than three work days after the examination date. The medical certificate must be presented in the original; sending the medical certificate as an email attachment will not suffice. In case of sending it by post the deadline is considered respected if the posting before the deadline is proved by stamped deposit receipt or postal stamp.

Please note your matriculation number, as well as the module number and module name on the certificate.

The certificate has to be sent to:

FH Aachen
Fachbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften
Prüfungssekretariat
Eupener Straße 70
52066 Aachen

If the doctor gives you a sick note for several days and you have registered several exams in this period, de-register from all exams that lie within this period.

Repetition of examinations

Repetition of examinations

According to article 21 of the General examination regulations (GER) the following rules apply:

(1) The final examination (bachelor’s or master’s thesis) and the colloquium can only be repeated once in case of failing it.

(2) Any examination that was not passed can be repeated twice. If required by the special character of a study programme or an examination the respective examination regulations may stipulate that an examination that has been failed, may only be repeated once. That for instance is true of our international degree programmes. In case of module examinations consisting of several parts the examination regulations may provide that the module examination can be repeated only as a whole.

(3) An examination that has been passed cannot be repeated, except in connection with an improvement attempt according to article 20 of the GER.

Publishing of results

Publishing of results

Six weeks at the latest after the sitting of the respective exam the results will be published. You can view your grades in HIS QIS.

Inspections

Inspections

We allow you to inspect your written exam papers. The examination office publishes the dates for the exams of core studies. If you want to inspect exams of specialisation studies, please contact the examiner personally.

You either learn about the dates of the inspections here or on the faculty’s notice board. If you have any questions to the examiner and he or she is not present at the inspection, please inform the person invigilating immediately after the inspection so that your exam paper can be forwarded to the examiner.

If you are not available on one of the dates specified by us you can charge a proxy who has already passed the exam and has your written affidavit to inspect your papers. The proxy must prove that he or she has passed the exam in question by presenting their transcript or records. More inspection dates than the ones on the published dates are not granted. More than one affidavit per person is not accepted.
