First attempt and registration for the first attempt NEW

First attempt and registration for the first attempt NEW

If the examination regulations stipulate a deadline for registration for the first attempt, this will be extended once by one semester per module.

The exact regulation (§ 5 (8)) as well as other amendments of the examination regulations that might be important for you, can be found here. If you have any questions about the changes, please contact our Academic Counselling Service.

Free attempt NEW

Free attempt NEW

Only one free attempt is available per module. It does not include one free attempt per examination period. It only applies to examinations which, according to the study plan, belong to the regular semester or to one of the previous semesters. If you use the free attempt, the examination is considered not to be taken. The free attempt can be used in the next examination period, which takes place from January to March 2021. It does not matter whether the examination is taken in the first, second or third attempt.

The prerequisite for using the free attempt in a module is that you are registered for the examination, take the examination (appear in the lecture hall and completing the examination cover sheet in full) and have worked out assessable solutions that correspond to at least half of the scope that would have had to be worked on to pass the examination. In addition, you can only use the free attempt if you do not pass the examination and there is no attempt at deception or improvement.

Please note that the regulations regarding registration and deregistration and withdrawal from examinations still apply without restriction.

If you take an examination and notice before the end of the examination that you wish to use the free attempt, you must remain seated until the end of the examination. Only by doing so can we ensure that the examination is conducted in an orderly and coronahygiene-compliant manner.

The exact regulation (§ 5 (10)) as well as other amendments of the examination regulations that might be important for you, can be found here. If you have any questions about the changes, please contact our Academic Counselling Service.

Standard period of study NEW

Standard period of study NEW

Through § 10 (1) of the University Ordinance of 15 April 2020, the individualised standard period of study for current students was increased by one semester. Since the above-mentioned Amendment Ordinance came into force, the regulation also extends to the winter semester 2020/21. This means that the standard period of study for enrolled students will be increased by one semester for both the summer semester 2020 and the winter semester 2020/21. For students who were enrolled in both semesters, the increase thus amounts to two semesters. Due to § 14 of our Corona University Ordinance, the regulation also applies to students on leave of absence.

If you have any questions regarding the effect on BAföG, please contact BAföG - Studierendenwerk Aachen.

> Pathfinder for first semester students

As this semester is a great challenge, especially for our first semester students, we are going to support you with our first-semester pathfinder.

The faculty and our Fresher's Helper Team will be guiding you through the first semester. This means that you will regularly be informed about important topics. You will also be reminded what deadlines there are for certain tasks that  must/should be done and you will receive guidance so that you'll find  your way successfully. You’ll find the information on our Facebook page „FH Aachen Wirtschaftswissenschaften and on our Instagram profile „fhaachen.wirtschaft“.

Study groups

To facilitate networking in study we’ve founded a Facebook group: www.fhac.de/FB07/Lerngruppenfinder. Just become a member of that group and write a post if you are looking for a study group for a certain class or private tuition or if you are offering tuition yourself. It is a campaign from students for students.

#studyathome campaign

Under the hashtag #studyathome we’ve started a campaign on our Instagram profile „fhaachen.wirtschaft“ to give you valuable tips on how to study at home. During the following weeks, Noelle from the Fresher's Helper Team will give you assistance on how to best organise your daily study from home.

> WebexTeams and Webex Meetings

In order to support communication in study, the communication tools WebexTeams and Webex Meetings are at your disposal. Using Webex Teams, you can form groups to chat with on different channels, to start video conferences and to share screen content. Via Webex Meetings you can stage video conferences yourself and invite guests to join you.

Since both services are offered by an external provider your consent to transmit data is necessary (first name, family name, alumni email address, course of study, faculty). You can agree via the services website under Accounts -> external services  (https://services.fh-aachen.de/Account/externalService). The release will take about one hour. After that you can use Webex Teams via the site https://teams.webex.com and Webex Meetings via the site https://fh-aachen.webex.com. There, you have to enter your alumni email address. You are then forwarded to www.login.fh-aachen.de, where you can log in using your FH ID and your usual password.
