Current information about studying during the corona crisis

On this page, we’ll gladly provide you with an overview of all topics relevant for study during the coronavirus crisis.

You are obliged to make yourself familiar with the hygiene regulations of the FH Aachen. Please also read the recommendation for the implementation of internships, practical events and lectures that take place on site. The Corona Protection Ordinance NRW as amended from time to time can be found here.

Even in times of the corona pandemic, the framework examination regulations, and the examination regulations of your respective degree program are fully applicable.

3G rule and mask requirements

3G rule and mask requirements

From Monday, October 4th, 2021, the regular lecture period will start - completely in attendance. Mask requirement and 3G rule will still apply.

Important: As of October 4, 2021, the 3G status will be checked when entering the building.

Organizationally, we ask you to keep the following in mind:

  • Security will not let you into the building without valid 3G proof.
  • Please arrive at the building entranceat least 15 min. before the start of the module/lecture (only one entrance per building will be open). If you have a module in a different building before, please go to the next building immediately after the module ends. Have your 3G proof and a photo ID ready. If you already have your FH card with hologram sticker, have it ready.
  • 3G testing will take time and queues at building entrances will be the norm. As a vaccinated student, you can help by obtaining a hologram sticker for your FH card, if you have not already done so. The sticker will speed up 3G testing.
  • If you don't have a FH-card yet, you can apply for one here: https://www.fh-aachen.de/en/university/fh-karte/students
  • If you already have the FH card, you can get (with 3G proof) your sticker....
    • ...from the second week of lectures onwards, you can pick them up in the library, the FH Corona test centers and in the examination office of our faculty during the regular opening hours.

Masks and the 3G rule still apply:

  • From the moment you enter a building, masks are mandatory throughout, even during classes.
  • All buildings on campus may only be entered if vaccinated or tested or recovered.
  • Only the following proofs entitle access to the inspections:
    1. Proof of complete vaccination at least 14 days ago.
    2. Proof of having overcome a Corona infection (in German or English)
    - Recovered persons who have contracted COVID-19 in the last six months (and at least 28 days ago) (positive test result by laboratory diagnosis) or
    - Recovered persons (COVID-19 disease is more than six months ago) with first vaccination (14 days after vaccination).
    3. Negative test result from a test centre (not older than 24 hours), so-called citizen test, carried out in an official test centre (also possible in the test centre of the FH Aachen).
  • You must expect to be checked for 3G at all times in the buildings by faculty, staff, or security.
  • Please be prepared for frequent ventilation, which will cause the rooms to be cold at times.
  • If you have symptoms similar to corona, you should be tested - even if you have been vaccinated or have recovered - to be on the safe side and only attend courses if the test result is negative. Even those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered can become infected and infect others (albeit with a lower probability).

You must therefore be able to always prove your 3G status. To do this, please use an official certificate (QR code) in an official app (CoronaWarnApp or CovPass) if possible. You will also need a photo ID.

Studying at home

Studying at home

> Pathfinder for first semester students

As this semester is a great challenge, especially for our first semester students, we are going to support you with our first-semester pathfinder.

The faculty and our Fresher's Helper Team will be guiding you through the first semester. This means that you will regularly be informed about important topics. You will also be reminded what deadlines there are for certain tasks that  must/should be done and you will receive guidance so that you'll find  your way successfully. You’ll find the information on our Facebook page „FH Aachen Wirtschaftswissenschaften and on our Instagram profile „fhaachen.wirtschaft“.

Study groups

To facilitate networking in study we’ve founded a Facebook group: www.fhac.de/FB07/Lerngruppenfinder. Just become a member of that group and write a post if you are looking for a study group for a certain class or private tuition or if you are offering tuition yourself. It is a campaign from students for students.

#studyathome campaign

Under the hashtag #studyathome we’ve started a campaign on our Instagram profile „fhaachen.wirtschaft“ to give you valuable tips on how to study at home. During the following weeks, Noelle from the Fresher's Helper Team will give you assistance on how to best organise your daily study from home.

Technical Support

Technical Support

> IT Support Centre

For technical questions or problems regarding the network facilities of FH Aachen, user administration (FH Card, FH user ID), internet access (Wifi, VPN) or study administration (CampusOffice, QIS,  Email), eLearning services (e.g. Ilias, Sciebo) our IT Services (DVZ) will be ready to support you. Just use the ticket system at https://hilfecenter.fh-aachen.de. Your user name is the FH ID (e.g. ab1234s). Under the item „IT Support (DVZ) you’ll find instructions on how to write a ticket.

> WebexTeams and Webex Meetings

In order to support communication in study, the communication tools WebexTeams and Webex Meetings are at your disposal. Using Webex Teams, you can form groups to chat with on different channels, to start video conferences and to share screen content. Via Webex Meetings you can stage video conferences yourself and invite guests to join you.

Since both services are offered by an external provider your consent to transmit data is necessary (first name, family name, alumni email address, course of study, faculty). You can agree via the services website under Accounts -> external services  (https://services.fh-aachen.de/Account/externalService). The release will take about one hour. After that you can use Webex Teams via the site https://teams.webex.com and Webex Meetings via the site https://fh-aachen.webex.com. There, you have to enter your alumni email address. You are then forwarded to www.login.fh-aachen.de, where you can log in using your FH ID and your usual password.
