Student Projects

pro8, Project 1

"pro8" is a project of the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences that runs during the semester. Students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics work on real problems from working life - providing thus useful input for companies.

Students of a whole academic year (starting from the 4th semester) work in competing teams on the same task. They are confronted with a problem from an industrial company, which also assesses the results itself and gives feedback to the students.

The student teams are supported by students in advanced semesters and "specific coaches". If required, professors give support as well, but they always intend to stay in the background. | more details (in German)

pro8, Project 2

pro8-2 (Project 2) in the 5. Semester of the Bachelor Degree Programs Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics

After having successfully finished the pro8-1 project in the 4th semester, teams of three to six students compete in another project in their 5th semester.

Students are free to build their teams themselves. There are no special requirements.

The project deals with technical problems occuring either in the industry or within the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences.

The project usually takes place in the winter semester. In exceptional and duly justified cases, it is possible to shift it to the summer semester. | More details (in German)

Mechatronic Project

The Mechatronic Project is an integrated part of the study program for the Master of Science in Mechatronics. Each project is to be performed in groups of 5 - 6 students and is running during the complete 2nd and 3rd semester. Each project team will be supervised by the professor that contributed the project topic.

Master Mechatronics students are asked to form teams and select a project topic that suits their interests. Of course each project can be only performed by one team.

Please keep the following sequence for project registration:

  1. Contact the professor responsible for the selected project as soon as possible.
  2. After a positive reply from this professor for team membership -> send an email to Prof. Kämper.
Let him know the name of the selected project + the names of the members of your team + their email addresses.
Please note: Before Prof. Kämper has not received this email you are not registered for the project!

The projects can start immediately or at least directly at the beginning of the summer semester.

A large selection of different mechatronic projects is listed here.
