A two-and-a-half-week long summer course for students of all universities and disciplines with lectures, excursions and a “future workshop” on renewable energies.

Topics | Solar thermal power plants, solar thermal energy, photovoltaic, biomass, geothermal, wind, hydropower, solar cooling, heat pumps, integration of renewable energy into the power grid, smart grid, developing technologies, sustainable mobility, solar desalination, energy efficient construction, fuel cells, storage systems, renewable fuels, energy policy, environmental psychology and climate protection.

Further information | Each participant must bear the costs of travel, accommodation and food themselves. Traditionally, your tents and camper vans can be positioned on the field in front of the buildings (free of charge). If you are looking for a different form of accommodation, we are happy to help. However, we recommend camping because participants experience a communal atmosphere. Access to a modern shower container with hot water and toilet facilities will be made available. (Camping is done at the risk and without the insurance claim of the participants)

ECTS credit points | Participation in the Summer School of Renewable Energy enables both Bachelor and Master students to earn 5 credit points (CP’s) according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).While registering please indicate whether you would like to earn ECTS points! At the end of the summer school, each participant will receive a certificate showing the duration, content and scope of the event.

For this dedicated and continuous commitment of the highest level, the Solar-Institute Juelich has been awarded the 2015 EUROSOLAR Solar Prize for education and training.
