Doctoral College NRW (PK NRW)

The Doctoral College for Applied Research in North Rhine-Westphalia (PK NRW,  Promotionskolleg für angewandte Forschung in Nordrhein-Westfalen) was founded in December 2020. The PK NRW emerged from the Graduate Institute NRW (GI NRW) and is a joint scientific institution of the 16 state and four state-refinanced universities of applied sciences as well as the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In the future, Master's graduates from HAW and universities are to realise their doctoral projects within the PK NRW, in close cooperation with the universities. The PK NRW will award the doctoral degree.

The prerequisite is that the NRW Ministry of Science grants the right to award doctorates to the NRW Doctoral College (PK NRW) after an assessment by the German Council of Science and Humanities (probably at the beginning of 2020).

Numerous research professors and doctoral candidates are actively represented in the study groups of the Doctoral College NRW. We are proud that professors from FH Aachen are also actively involved as members and (deputy) directors, as are cooperative doctoral candidates from FH Aachen.
