Reinstatement after Interruption of Studies

Do you want to resume and continue your studies after a - voluntary or involuntary - interruption?

This is, in principle, possible if ...

  • this degree programme still exists and
  • you have not conclusively failed an examination at FH Aachen or any other university in the same degree programme.

In this case, you would have to, simultaneously, apply for a change of degree programme; in the case of non-transferable examination results, it may be necessary to apply for a 1st (Fach-)semester.

In order to resume your studies, please complete an application for reinstatement (Antrag auf Wiedereinschreibung). Please submit your application to the Registrar's Office within the stipulated deadline.
You will receive a letter from them detailing which documents you still have to submit for registration.
However, the university place is not secure if there is an admission restriction in the 1st or higher (Fach-)semester!

As a rule, the following documents are required for reinstatement:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Current student health insurance certificate
  • Declaration about studying at another university
  • If applicable, deregistration certificate and clearance certificate from another university
  • Pay-in slip for the social contribution and student activity fee (Sozial- und Studierendenschaftsbeitrag)
