FAQ - Admission Requirements

Admission requirements are conditions to be fulfilled in order to get admission to university. These include pre-study practical training, language skills and aptitude tests. Here are the answers to your questions.

General

Which requirements do I have to fulfill?

The requirements vary depending on the degree programme. You will find the specific requirements for a degree programme in the respective examination regulations.

Bachelor's degree programmes require a university entrance qualification. There may be further equirements, such as completing a pre-study practical training and/or an aptitude test.

In case of dual study programmes, you must have an apprenticeship contract or completed vocational training.

Master's degree programmes have their own admission regulations where the requirements are stipulated.

How many degree programmes may I apply for?

A maximum of three applications is allowed for admission-restricted degree programmes. This applies to both Bachelor and Master applications. You must individually fill out an application form for each degree programme.

How will I gain admission?

If you've applied for a degree programme with no admission restrictions, you will be provided with a downloadable PDF file of your note of admission directly after completing the online registration. After that, please come to the Registrar's Office for student registration within the deadline specified in the letter of admission.

If you've applied for an admission-restricted degree programme, your application will be checked. After the expiration of the application deadline and a review of all submitted applications, you will be notified whether or not a place at university is available for you. If yes, you will get an offer of admission which you can accept within the deadline specified in the online portal. If you accept the offer, please complete the online registration. After completion, you will be provided with a downloadable PDF file of your letter of admission.

The letter of admission will not be sent by post.

When will I gain admission to admission-restricted degree programmes?

If you've applied for an admission-restricted degree programme, your application will be checked. After the expiration of the application deadline and a review of all submitted applications, you will be notified whether or not a place at university is available for you. If yes, you will get an offer of admission which you can accept within the deadline specified in the online portal. If you accept the offer, please complete the online registration. In case there is no place at university available for you, you will also be notified. This means that as long as you do not receive a notice of rejection, it is potentially possible that you may still get an offer of admission.

Is the letter of admission important?

Yes, it is! The letter of admission is compulsory for registration. The letter of admission confirms that you have a place at the university. The letter of admission specifies the further steps, the documents required for registration and the binding deadlines.

Can I get the letter of admission more than once?

What is pre-study practical training?

Which degree programmes require pre-study practical training?

I've finished my vocational training. Will this be recognised as pre-study practical training?

Is it possible to complete the pre-study practical training during my studies?

What does "recognition of practical training" mean?

Please contact the Student Service Center (SSC) to find out who is responsible for the recognition of your practical training.

If you submit the required documents during the application process and gain admission, you have to provide proof of your language skills and the DSH-2 course attendance at the time of registration. Only then will you get a deadline extension for submitting the final language skills:

Applications for the summer semester: until March 31, and

Applications for the winter semester:    until September 30
