Graduation

In the historic ambience of the Coronation Hall in Aachen City Hall, the graduates of the Faculty of Business Studies receive their degree certificates and celebrate their successful graduation together with parents and friends, professors of FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and the lecturers and staff of the faculty.

The upcoming graduation ceremony will take place on 13.12.2024. All students of the Faculty of Business Studies who graduate in the period from 1.9.2023 to 31.8.2024 will be invited. The invitations will be sent out in summer 2024. We will inform you here about the mailing. If you have not received an invitation by this time, but have graduated during the specified period, please let us know.

Every year we produce a graduation book for which we need a professional application photo from you. It is printed in the book together with the topic of your final thesis. The book is not only a special memento of your time as a student, but we also receive enquiries from companies that use the graduate book to search for suitable junior staff.

On Saturday, 28 October 2023, in the historic setting of the Coronation Hall in Aachen City Hall, graduates of the Faculty of Business Studies received their degree certificates and celebrated their successful completion of their studies together with parents and friends, professors from FH Aachen as well as lecturers and staff from the faculty.

Of the approximately 470 graduates from last year, 208 took part in the graduation ceremony. Prof. Dr Josef Rosenkranz, Vice-Rector for Studies, Teaching and Internationality at FH Aachen, Jakob von Thenen, District Mayor of Kornelimünster/Walheim and Prof. Dr Meike Utzerath, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, welcomed the guests in attendance, which included numerous company representatives and cooperation partners of the faculty.

"You have worked hard for your success and you can be proud of the result," said Prof Dr Meike Utzerath, congratulating the graduates. "Today marks the end of a very special phase in your lives. Your time at university cannot be compared to any other period of your life," added District Mayor von Thenen. Above all, this time is characterised by freedom, new friendships and independence.

The Faculty of Business Studies has maintained contacts with over 110 partner universities worldwide for years, making it a pioneer in the field of internationalisation. Every year, around 120 students spend part of their studies abroad, where they are prepared for the demands of a globalised working world. "FH Aachen graduates have practical training and many of them have already gained international experience, whether through a stay abroad or in dealing with our international students," emphasised Prof. Dr Josef Rosenkranz in his speech.

For example, 22 graduates completed their studies with a double degree. Partner universities in Europe included Dublin Business School in Ireland, Midsweden University in Sweden and ESC Rennes in France.

20 young people completed the dual study programme Business Studies Praxis Plus, i.e. they pursued a career alongside their studies or obtained a degree as an industrial clerk, retail clerk, office management clerk or wholesale and foreign trade clerk in addition to their Bachelor's degree. The cooperating companies included Access e.V., Aixtron SE, ALDI Süd GmbH & Co. KG, bc GmbH, Chocoladefabriken Lindt & Sprüngli GmbH, DALLI-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG, Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, Grünenthal Pharma GmbH & Co. KG, Holtec GmbH & Co. KG, Industrie- und Handelskammer Aachen, Juwelier studio küpper, La-Pha-Pack GmbH, Nobis Printen e.K., OZV GmbH & Co KG, Saint Gobain Sekurit Deutschland GmbH & Co KG, Sauer Spinning Solutions GmbH & Co KG, schwartz GmbH.

In addition to many anecdotes from his time as a student, Jonathan Schmiegel summarised in his graduation speech: "Regardless of whether we work in established companies, set up our own businesses or are involved in the non-profit sector, we are equipped with the necessary skills to be successful." He also appealed not only to celebrate the degree, but also to raise awareness of responsibility when putting the knowledge gained into practice.

With a view to the challenges of the working world, Prof Dr Meike Utzerath bid farewell to the graduates: "Get involved with people, get to know other perspectives and keep an open mind."
