CADCAM applications are indispensable tools in modern product development and manufacturing. Software systems that can map the entire product development process, from design and virtual commissioning through to production, are playing an increasingly important role.

Once fully parametric 3-dimensional components and assemblies have been designed using the Autodesk Inventor, the digital parts and products can be used s input for virtual commissioning and/or CAM-simulation.

The 3-dimensional solid models can also be used as input for 3D printing. Two different RP devices are currently available in the laboratory, which work according to the principle of fused layer modelling (FLM).

The laboratory is equipped with 20 computer workstations.

Actually an Ultimaker S5 and an Ultimaker S7 can be used to produce the models created. With the help of a 3D scanner, existing objects can be scanned and printed directly or used for reverse engineering.
