Practice-oriented and versatile

Today, engineers work in a predominantly interdisciplinary professional field and are characterized not only by technical expertise. We prepare our students in the best possible way for their career entry by providing them with a practical and versatile education.
Through many application-oriented elements in their curriculum (such as pre-study internships, internal and external internships, laboratory practicals), our degree programs have a strong practical orientation. Almost all final theses are dedicated to practice-relevant issues and are carried out in technology-oriented companies. The faculty has maintained close relationships with local, national and international companies for decades and is constantly expanding its network. All courses include one or more projects with topics from real professional practice. Companies also partly provide and evaluate the tasks that students have to solve.

In the Bachelor's degree programs, students get a very good overview of the basic topics of mechanical engineering at a demanding level and receive in-depth knowledge in individual selected technical subjects. In addition to the Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, we also offer the interdisciplinary Bachelor's programs in Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering, in which we cooperate closely with the faculties of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Aerospace Engineering and Economics.

However, students acquire further skills, e.g. in business administration, in order to be able to act competently in business situations and operational tasks and  to consider and assess economic aspects. The faculty is aware of its social responsibility. It is very important to us that the decision-makers of tomorrow are educated in such a way that they are not only able to convince with technical know-how, but also mature into a personality that is socially competent, able to think critically and act ethically and environmentally conscious.
