It’s always wonderful to see how much energy, curiosity, and passion young talents bring to our team. A special thank you goes out today to our current interns from St. Michael High School in Monschau!
During their first two days of the internship, they worked diligently on the computers in the CAD lab, modeling components and familiarizing themselves with the digital process steps. In between, they also took a short tour of the Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics department building. The interns then spent the last four days of their internship working on the virtual welding simulator (AR = Augmented Reality) with Sophia Kiesel and with Mr. Schellenberg in the workshop.
Not only did they actively work on their own small projects—they also showed us just how exciting and diverse mechanical engineering and mechatronics are. And perhaps they’ve just laid the foundation for their own professional futures—after all, internships are also an invitation to get to know the world of technology.
That’s why I urge all students: Take advantage of these opportunities! An internship in mechanical engineering is more than just a line on your resume—it’s a chance to discover what truly inspires you. You might even discover a passion for a career you hadn’t even considered before.

An internship in this field not only gives you practical insights but also shows you just how diverse and forward-looking this profession is.”
So: Thank you to our interns—you’re amazing! And to everyone who’s still unsure: Give it a try! The best career choice is the one that stems from your own interests and curiosity.
