Aachener Gesellschaft für Innovation und Technologietransfer mbH (AGIT), founded in 1983, is the regional business development organisation for the Aachen technology region. It sees itself as a service provider, moderator and pacemaker with its own initiatives. AGIT transfers science into jobs for the Aachen region and is the first point of contact for technology topics in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation and growth, structural change and location development - both regionally and across borders. Embedded in a region with numerous scientific institutions, such as FH Aachen, and thus the best conditions for future developments in and around core technological topics, AGIT operates at the interface between university and industry in order to promote technology transfer.

For AGIT, the great strength of the Aachen (technology) region lies in the many excellent scientific institutions in the region. "We are capitalising on this strength," says Nina Walkenbach, Head of Section Business Development at AGIT. "With our new building on Campus Melaten, we are opening doors for start-ups and technology-orientated companies to the scientific institutions. At the same time, we are also building a bridge to the region."

One of AGIT's declared goals is to keep the excellently trained specialists on site. "FH Aachen is a strong partner for us. There is close cooperation in many subject areas. Above all, however, we support particularly high-performing students at FH Aachen, who can concentrate fully on their studies with our support," says Walkenbach. As a scholarship provider, AGIT sees itself as part of a large network of active supporters from the Aachen region. The scholarship holders get to know this network through the scholarship programme. This gives them a picture of potential employers and sponsors who will also welcome them with open arms on their future career path.

AGIT therefore simultaneously supports future entrepreneurs, specialists and academics. "We may be able to advise the scholarship holders as founders in the future, they may find a job in a regional company or meet us as scientists at FH Aachen as part of the collaborations mentioned above. The FH Aachen scholarship programme is therefore an important building block for us in promoting the region's economy."
