Senate
As an important body in self-administration, the Senate participates in the election of the members of the Rectorate and is responsible for commenting on the annual report of the Rectorate. In addition, it is responsible for enacting and amending the basic regulations and other regulations of the university.
Furthermore, the Senate makes recommendations and comments on the draft of the University Development Plan, on the evaluation reports, on the business plan, on the principles for the distribution of posts and funds among the faculties and central academic institutions and operating units. It also makes recommendations and statements on matters of research, teaching and studies that affect the entire university or are of fundamental importance.
The Senate may also appoint commissions and committees.

Composition of the Senate
Non-voting members:
Members of the Rectorate, Deans, the Equal Opportunities Officer, Chairpersons of both Staff Councils, AStA Chairpersons, Heads of the central facilities, representatives of the severely disabled, representatives of students with disabilities or chronic illnesses, honorary senators.
The meetings of the Senate take place every 4 weeks during the lecture period and are open to the public.
