The BrainergyLab is part of the BioökonomieREVIER initiative for structural change in the Rhenish mining district to become a model region for sustainable business and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

The aim of the project is to test modern technologies for modern agriculture such as agricultural robots and artificial intelligence in agriculture.

FH Aachen is participating by collecting data on the test fields using drones and stationary sensors.
The test fields are flown over with special mapping drones and images and LIDAR recordings are taken. These individual images are then combined with sensor data to create data maps that serve as a database for further scientific evaluation.
For example, indicators for disease or infestation and growth are to be determined so that fertilisers and pesticides can be used in a more targeted manner in the future.
