Application for Minor and Major Cross-Registration
1 | The application for cross-registration is done via the Application Portal of FH Aachen.
2 | Register there and start the application for the subject cross-registration in the 1st subject-specific semester (1. Fachsemester).
3 | During the application process, you will be asked for which specific degree programme and for which subject-specific semester you would like to apply. Follow the instructions.
4 | Regardless of whether or not the cross-registration is to be linked to classification in a higher semester, please have the Antrag auf Zweithörerschaft (Application for Cross-Registration) signed in the Examination Office of the respective faculty.
5 | Complete the application process and send an email to the Registrar's Office stating your applicant number and indicating that you wish to apply for cross-registration.
6 | Once the application has been processed, you will receive the letter of admission by email.
The minor cross-registration (Kleine Zweithörerschaft) is subject to a fee of 100€ per semester. The major cross-registration (Große Zweithörerschaft) is free of charge, but is only granted if there is free capacity.

Application Deadlines and Semester Dates
Application for Special Cross-Registrations
Degree Programmes with Orientation Semester and Cooperation Lehramt BK with RWTH Aachen University
1 | Please register in the Application Portal and start the application for cross-registration in the 1st subject-specific semester (1. Fachsemester).
2 | Next, select the correct cross-registration in cooperation with RWTH Aachen and the appropriate degree programme (at present, Bauingenieurwesen is the only degree programme for students of the cooperation Lehramt BK) as well as the appropriate semester.
3 | Upload the accompanying letter and the most recent registration certificate from RWTH during the application process. The accompanying letter for the degree programmes with orientation semester can be obtained from Maike Schneider (coordinator of the cooperation degree programmes at FH Aachen). The accompanying letter for Lehramt BK (Vocational School Teacher Training) can be obtained from the coordinator of the cooperative degree programmes, Jens Drescher (Departmental Advisor RWTH Aachen) and Verena Draht (Coordinator Vocational Teacher Training at FH Aachen).
4 | Important: At the end of the application, please tick the box and submit the application. Only then will the status message "Application status: received" appear at the bottom right.
5 | Additionally, please send an email to the Registrar's Office with the subject Zweithörerschaft / Bewerbungsnummer (cross-registration / application number). This way, the application can be processed as quickly as possible.
6 | You will receive the letter of admission from us by email without any further action on your part being required.
The registration certificate from RWTH Aachen University can be submitted at a later date.
Re-Registration for Cross-Registered Students
If you would like to continue your studies at FH Aachen in the following semester as a minor or major cross-registered student, you must re-register for cross-registration at the Registrar's Office within the re-registration deadlines.
For re-registration, please submit the following documents by email to the Registrar's Office:
- a registration certificate (for the semester for which you are applying for re-registration) from the university at which you are registered as a primary student
- the last certificate of cross-registration (Zweithörerbescheinigung) from FH Aachen
- if you are re-registering for minor cross-registration, proof that you have paid the fee for cross-registration.
Cross-registered students who have not re-registered within the re-registration deadlines can no longer continue their studies in the following semester.
