Application and Admission
Admission requirements for the B.Eng. degree programme in Aerospace Engineering
In addition to the general admission requirements, you must also meet the following requirements for the Bachelor's degree programme in Aerospace Engineering:
Proof of language skills
English language skills
In addition to sufficient German language skills, applicants must provide proof of sufficient proficiency in English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This also applies to applicants whose first language is English.
For applicants with a German university entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachabitur):
If your German university entrance qualification demonstrates English language skills at level B2 (or higher), it is sufficient to submit proof of language proficiency in the form of your certificate at registration. Please upload your Abitur certificate to the relevant section of the FH Aachen online application portal (www.h1.fh-aachen.de).
For applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification:
You must upload your language certificate when submitting your application via uni-assist. The following proofs and certificates are accepted by uni-assist:
IELTS (6.5, 6.0, 5.5); TOEFL iBT (94–72); TOEFL PBT (626–543); TOEFL ITP Level 1 (626–543); Cambridge Preliminary English Test + Distinction result (PET); Cambridge First Certificate in English + grade B or C (FCE); Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage); Cambridge English: Legal (ILEC); Cambridge English: Financial (ICFE); PTE Academic 75–59; TOEIC Listening and Reading Test (944–785); TOEIC Speaking Test (179–160); TOEIC Writing Test (179–150); telc B2 Certificate; UNIcert II; IGCSE First Language with an average grade of B2; IGCSE Second Language with an average grade of B2
Applicants who can provide the following documents are generally exempt from the requirement to provide proof of their English language skills for Aerospace Engineering:
Secondary School Certificate: British A-Level certificates, Irish Leaving Certificate, Scottish Qualifications Certificate, New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement, Canadian secondary school leaving certificates from all provinces except Quebec and New Brunswick. University degree from: Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada (excluding degrees from the provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick).
German language skills
Applicants whose first language is not German, or who did not obtain their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking university, must provide proof of their German language skills by taking the ‘Zertifikat Deutsch’ exam at level C1. Certificates from the Goethe Institute are recognised without further assessment by the Student Administration Office.
pre-study practical training
No pre-study practical training is required for admission to the B.Eng. degree programme in Aerospace Engineering. However, experience has shown that it is very helpful for students to understand the theoretical content of the degree programme in conjunction with its practical components. Having already worked with certain materials or manufacturing processes is an advantage if these are covered in the course.
Registration
A few weeks after your application, you will receive a letter of acceptance or rejection from the faculties. This will reserve you a place at university.
If you would like to take up the place at university, you will need to provide some further information and take some additional steps. Simply follow the instructions on the letter of admission within the deadline.
You can find information on the application here.
