Application and Admission

• A general university entrance qualification (Abitur) entitles the holder to enrol on the degree programme.
• A subject-linked university entrance qualification entitles you to study the degree programmes specified on the certificate.
• Vocational training and work experience (university entrance qualification without the Abitur): Under certain conditions, you may also be able to commence a degree programme without an entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences or the Abitur.
• Foreign qualifications for university entry.
• With the entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences, you can study any subject at our university of applied sciences.
  
  However, please note:
• Depending on the type of certificate, admission to the university of applied sciences requires not only the ‘academic component’ but also a mandatory six-month or one-year ‘practical component’ (download the PDF brochure from the State Ministry).
• Some certificates from outside the state of North Rhine-Westphalia may need to be recognised by a district government.    

For applicants with a German university entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachabitur), the following exception provision applies:
If your German university entrance qualification shows English language skills at level B2 (or higher), it is sufficient to present proof of language skills in the form of your certificate during registration. Please upload your Abitur certificate at the appropriate place in the online application portal of FH Aachen (www.h1.fh-aachen.de).

If the language level is not clearly stated, the certificate must be submitted to the IFO of the Faculty of Business Studies of FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences by 30 June of the respective application year:

Applicants who present a certificate without a clearly identifiable level of English at the time of registration may be refused registration.

In order to be admitted to the English-language Global Business and Economics degree programme, proof of sufficient foreign language skills in English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages must be submitted. This also applies to applicants whose native language is English.

As from Winter Semester 2024/25 only Uni Assist will also check your proof of English language skills directly. You will have to upload your proof of language skills when applying through Uni Assist. The following tests will be accepted by Uni Assist:

IELTS (6.5, 6.0, 5.5); TOEFL iBT (94-72); TOEFL PBT (626-543); TOEFL ITP Level 1 (626- 543); Cambridge Preliminary English Test + Result Distinction (PET); Cambridge First Certificate in English + Grade B or C (FCE); Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage); Cambridge English: Legal (ILEC); Cambridge English: Financial (ICFE); PTE Academic 75 – 59; TOEIC Listening and Reading Test (944-785); TOEIC Speaking Test (179-160); TOEIC Writing Test (179-150); telc B2-certificate; UNIcert II; IGCSE 1^st Language with average B2; IGCSE 2^nd Language with average B2

Applicants who can submitt the following documents are generally exempt from the requirement to provide proof of English language proficiency for „Global Business and Economics“:

Secondary School Certificate: British A-Level certificates, Irish Leaving Certificate, Scottish Qualifications Certificate, New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement, Canadian secondary school leaving certificates from all provinces except Quebec and New Brunswick.

University Degree from: Great Britain, Irland, Neuseeland, Australien, USA, Kanada (except degrees from the provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick).

An existing, current confirmation of sufficient English language skills from the International Faculty Office of the Faculty of Business Studies is still valid.
