FH Scholarship Programme (Deutschlandstipendium)

Become a Scholarship Holder

As part of the federal “Deutschlandstipendium” programme FH Aachen has been awarding scholarships to high-achieving and committed students for more than 15 years.

As a scholarship holder, you can look forward to a strong network, a suitable sponsor by your side, €300 per month for one year, and exclusive workshops, company visits, and networking events.

The application period for 2026 begins on June 23 and ends on July 14. You can access the application portal here.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

Scholarship holders receive 300 euros per month over a period of 12 months, starting in the winter semester. Reapplying is possible, meaning that the FH Scholarship can be received multiple times, potentially throughout the entire duration of your studies. In addition, you can look forward to a strong network, a suitable sponsor by your side, and exclusive workshops, company visits, and networking events that encourage exchange among scholarship holders as well as with the scholarship sponsors.

An overview of the sponsors can be found here: FH Aachen Scholarship Program Sponsors.

What are the Requirements?

A formal requirement for receiving the scholarship is enrollment at FH Aachen as a full student. Applications are also welcome from those who are about to start studying at FH Aachen, i.e. who wish to start studying at FH Aachen in the winter semester, are not yet registered but have applied or are applying for a place.

Funding is only possible if the standard period of study is maintained. In exceptional cases, an application for an extension of the maximum funding period may be submitted, for example due to parenthood, disability, or a subject-related stay abroad outside the curriculum. At the time of the scholarship award, applicants should be within the standard period of study and are expected to be registered for at least two more semesters.

Grades should range from good to very good; however, there is no fixed grade requirement. The grading culture of the respective faculty or degree programme is taken into account. The required ECTS credits should have been completed.

The scholarship is awarded independently of income and BAföG (The Federal Training Assistance Act). The FH Scholarship is not deducted from BAföG payments.

A so-called "double funding" through a combination with other scholarship sponsors (organisations for the promotion of young talent, DAAD...) is not possible.

How Does the Selection Process Work?

The FH Aachen Scholarship Committee evaluates all applications, creates a faculty- or degree program-specific ranking, and makes the final selection decision. The committee consists of professors from FH Aachen as well as advisory representatives from the AStA and the coordinator of the FH Scholarship Program.

In addition to academic achievements to date (grades and ECTS credits, higher education entrance qualification or bachelor’s grade, depending on the applicant’s status), the evaluation also takes into account special achievements, awards and prizes, previous professional experience and internships (excluding mandatory internships), extracurricular or non-academic engagement such as volunteer work, social, societal, university political or political involvement, or participation in religious communities, associations, or clubs. Furthermore, special personal or family circumstances — such as illnesses and disabilities, caring for one’s own children, especially as a single parent, or dependent close relatives, involvement in a family business, employment alongside studies, family background, or a migration background — are included in the evaluation with a weighting of 20%. These criteria must be verified if the application is successful.

Please note that, in addition to academic performance and the overall evaluation of applicants, the awarding of scholarships also depends on the amount of acquired funding and any restrictions regarding the supported faculty or degree programme.

How Can I Apply?

The FH scholarships are awarded annually for the winter semester.

The application period for the 2026/27 funding period begins on 23 June and ends on 14 July 14, 2026. Applications can only be submitted during this period and via the application portal.
