About Faculty 8

FH Aachen has 10 faculties in total. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics was given the number 8, in short: we are FB8!

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics is one of the oldest faculties of the FH Aachen, which was founded in 1972 and has its origin in the Königliche Höhere Maschinenbauschule Aachen (founded in 1902, renamed Staatliche Ingenieurschule Aachen in 1919) and other educational institutions. In 1907, the building on Goethestraße was constructed, which - after various conversions, extensions and modernizations - still houses our faculty today.

For more than 120 years, engineers have been trained here at the Aachen site on Goethestraße. We keep in touch with our graduates and therefore know that they are well received in professional practice. This is also evidenced by the top positions reached in the WirtschaftsWoche's annual university of applied sciences rankings, which are based on surveys with over 500 companies. A top ranking over many years speaks for the continuously high quality of our university education at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics.
