Important Information about the Start of Studies:
For the Architecture Bachelor's degree programme, a practical training is required which can be divided into individual time periods and must be completed by 30 September in the third semester at the latest. Ideally, part of the practical training should be completed before the start of studies. Practical training is divided into time spent on the construction site and in architecture and planning offices.
Here are the current practical training regulations for all first-year students as of winter semester 2024/25:
All first-year students from WS 24/25 onwards in the Architecture Bachelor's degree programme at FH Aachen must provide evidence of a total of 10 weeks of practical training by 30 September in the 3rd semester at the latest .
This is divided into a 6-week placement on a construction site in a main construction trade (the Construction Site Ordinance (BaubetrV1980) is decisive for the placement and the activities to be carried out) as well as a 4-week placement in an architecture or planning office. Employment or apprenticeships in the required areas before or during your studies can be counted towards the practical training period. The certificate of the completed practical training should be issued informally by the respective practical training company and signed by a member of management. It should contain at least the following information: exact period of the practical training and keywords indicating which activities were carried out and to what extent.
It must be submitted to the Faculty of Architecture (Examination Office) for recognition (also possible as an email scan). This certificate, once recognised by the faculty, should then be submitted to Student Services (Bayernallee 11).

Admission to the Pro Basic/Master's thesis
The Pro Basic is the preliminary requirement for the Bachelor's thesis and must be passed before the Bachelor's thesis is officially issued by the Examination Office. In addition to the Pro Basic, students of the Examination Regulations (2018 and 2019) complete the subjects Management 2, Construction Law 2 and an elective module. Registration for the Pro Basic is only possible if the modules in semesters 1 - 5 have been successfully completed and 150 credits have been achieved.
You can only register for the Master's thesis if you have successfully completed the modules of the first three semesters and have achieved 90 credit points.
The registration periods are as follows:
Mid-February/early March for the summer semester and early September for the winter semester. You have the option of registering for the PRO BASIC or the MASTERTHESIS in both the summer and winter semesters.
