Offers for Students with Children

Students can receive a financial subsidy towards their childcare costs for self-organised childcare on an hourly basis outside of regular childcare. The childcare cost subsidy is aimed at registered students and parents doing a doctorate at FH Aachen who are not in employment subject to social security contributions. The first application must be preceded by a counselling session with the AStA of FH Aachen. A maximum of €12.50 per hour of childcare can be subsidised. The subsidy may not exceed €800 per semester and student parent. Single parents can receive a maximum of € 1600 childcare allowance per semester. The childcare allowance can be granted in the following cases:

• Examination phase
• Attendance of courses and lectures
• Closure / holiday periods of regular childcare

Children of FH Aachen students receive one hot meal per day free of charge in all Studierendenwerk Aachen dining halls (Mensa) by means of a children's card. The card is issued in conjunction with the purchase of an adult portion. If accompanied by a student parent, the children receive a free portion from the daily menu. Children's meals are served on colourful, break-proof children's plates. Children's chairs are available in all dining halls (Mensa) for the little ones. Parents studying in Aachen can obtain the children's card by submitting the relevant application, a copy of the child's birth certificate and a valid registration certificate to the Studierendenwerk Infopoint at Pontwall 3. Students in Jülich can hand in the relevant documents at the cash desk of the dining hall (Mensa) Jülich in Heinrich-Mussmann-Straße. It is valid for the current calendar year. In December of each year, students will receive a new card for the next year upon presentation of a valid registration certificate. The children's card can be issued for children up to the age of 10.
