FH Aachen - University of Applied Sciences
With more than 14,000 students, around 2,000 graduates every year, 10 faculties, about 100 degree programmes, 14 in-house and five affiliated institutes as well as four competence platforms, FH Aachen, with its two campuses in Aachen and Jülich, is one of the largest and most important universities of applied sciences in Germany. Some 240 professors and about 1,300 employees work here in teaching, research and administration.
Study and Teaching
FH Aachen offers a course of study that provides excellent preparation for working in modern and forward-looking professions. In addition to the classic MINT fields of mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology, the university's range of studies also covers the fields of business studies, architecture and design. The Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes also offer an increasing selection of market-oriented dual study programmes. The university focuses on modern teaching, which is based on the latest didactic findings and uses current methods such as e-learning. Students are offered close personal support, which enables an intensive exchange of experience and knowledge with the teaching staff. The inclusion of current results from research and development optimally prepares students for their professional activities after graduation.
Research and Cooperation
FH Aachen is one of the strongest research universities of applied sciences in Germany. Its competencies lie primarily in the future fields of energy, mobility and life sciences as well as digitalisation and industrial production. Current research findings are directly incorporated into teaching.
In close cooperation, the university and the regional industry jointly develop products and methods that create added value directly on site. FH Aachen trains people who take on responsibility in the region's companies and who contribute to the development of the regional economy with their research-related specialist and methodological knowledge.
Doctorates are possible at FH Aachen via the NRW Doctoral College (Promotionskolleg NRW) or in cooperation with a higher education institution/university entitled to award doctorates.
Networked: Regionally and Worldwide
The expansion of regional, national and international networking in teaching and research is an essential part of FH Aachen's plans for the future, especially in view of the euregional location of the university in the direct vicinity of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Another decisive step is the offer of international degree programmes. In this context, the cooperation with numerous and important foreign partner universities of FH Aachen is particularly attractive.
FH Aachen's Freshman Institute prepares students from all over the world for further studies in Germany. Intensive teaching of language and content skills enables students to make a seamless transition to a Bachelor's degree programme in North Rhine-Westphalia.
