Transgender
Transgender people are people whose external sexual characteristics (and thus the sex assigned at birth) do not correspond to their perceived sex, the so-called identity sex. More common is the term trans* persons, i.e. people who describe or have described themselves as e.g. transgender, transident, transsexual, transgender, genderqueer, trans*, trans, non-binary, cross-dresser, trans* woman, trans* man. The asterisk * stands as a placeholder for other gender identities. [Source: Bundesverband Trans* e.V.]
