Zwei erste Plätze für die FH Aachen

Das Hochschulranking der WirtschaftsWoche 2023

FH Aachen has once again achieved excellent rankings in a major university ranking: In the current rankings of WirtschaftsWoche, the university ranked first among universities of applied sciences in Germany in the subjects of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. In computer science, it is ranked third, and in business administration it is also in the top ten.

The WirtschaftsWoche ranking is based on a survey of over 500 human resources managers in German companies. The assessment was based on the question of which universities and colleges they prefer to recruit employees from. The results of the study serve as a guide for prospective students when choosing a subject and place to study.

Top placings again

The business magazine published the results of the study in its current issue (20/2023). FH Aachen confirmed its top rankings in the subjects of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering from the previous year. With 16.5 percent in electrical engineering and 17.0 percent in mechanical engineering, the FH shows a clear lead over the runners-up.

"This result shows that our graduates continue to enjoy a good reputation. We are very proud of this," emphasised the Rector of FH Aachen, Prof. Dr. Bernd P. Pietschmann. He thanked his colleagues for their commitment to studies and teaching: "We are constantly working on adapting our course content to current developments and the needs of industry."

Diverse electrical engineering

Prof. Dr. Michael Bragard, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and an electrical engineer himself, is delighted with the result and hopes to inspire even more young people to take up this exciting subject. "Many people are not aware of how diverse electrical engineering is. Our graduates are working on self-driving cars, developing heat pumps that are efficient even in old houses, or collecting data that can be used to develop solutions to manufacture a product in a more resource-efficient way."

Teaching, research and practical relevance

Prof. Dr. Walter Reichert, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, is also pleased with the results: "Teaching, research and practical relevance in studies go hand in hand at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics. The combination of engineering theory and applied research prepares our students for professional life in the best possible way. We are very pleased that the quality of our academic education is repeatedly confirmed with the successful results in the rankings."

The CHE Ranking was already published at the beginning of May. Here, FH Aachen received top ratings in the subjects of business administration, business informatics and business law in a Germany-wide comparison among universities of applied sciences.
