Internationally Oriented Studies (IOS)
What are Internationally Oriented Studies?
The Internationally Oriented Studies (IOS) at FH Aachen are internationally oriented Bachelor's degree programmes in the fields of engineering and natural sciences. They are aimed at both German and international students and, in addition to technical skills, also foster linguistic and intercultural competencies.
The prescribed period of study is six or seven semesters, and the programme is based at the Jülich Campus of FH Aachen.
The language of instruction is German. No Internationally Oriented Studies are offered that are taught exclusively in English. However, some courses may be taught in other languages, including English.
Entry requirements and language requirements
A distinctive feature of the Internationally Oriented Studies is the easier admission requirements for international applicants:
they need only demonstrate German language skills at B2 level when submitting their applications. Acceptable forms of proof include language certificates such as DSH-1, TestDaF 4x3, ÖSD B2, Goethe-Zertifikat B2 or telc B2. No exceptions are permitted.
In addition, graduates of the Freshman Program (preparatory college) may commence their studies on one of the Internationally Oriented Studies.
