Admission Requirements for the Energy Systems Degree Programme
In addition to the general admission requirements, you must also meet the following requirements for the Energy Systens degree programme:
Professionally Qualifying First University Degree with an Overall Grade of at Least 2.5
The prerequisite for admission to the Energy Systems degree programme is a recognised professionally qualifying first university degree with an overall grade of at least "2.5". The following fields of study are considered relevant:
- Mechanical Engineering,
- Electrical Engineering,
- physics engineering or
- process engineering.
Degree from a 7-semester university degree programme
The first professionally qualifying university degree is suitable if it comprises at least a seven-semester university degree programme and at least 210 credit points. Recognised are university degrees that have been approved by a competent body of the state in which the university is based or have been accredited in a recognised procedure. The Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research (MIWF) or the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder (KMK) is responsible for determining whether such recognition has been granted. Foreign students within the framework of cooperation agreements with foreign universities must provide proof that they have completed the examination achievements required at the partner university.
Degree from a 6-semester university degree programme
Students who have completed a six-semester Bachelor's degree programme worth 180 credits may be admitted to the Master's degree programme subject to certain conditions: For these graduates, the Examination Board specifies credits, usually totalling 30 credit points, the successful completion of which must be proven by the time they register for the Master's thesis. The modules to be determined by the Examination Board in individual cases must come from the curriculum of the Bachelor's degree programmes of the Faculty of Energy Technology at FH Aachen in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Physical Engineering and must include engineering and scientific and/or mathematical content. The decision is based on the principle that knowledge must be acquired in areas that are not sufficiently covered by the previous degree.
Proofs and Certificates of English Language Skills
Foreign applicants who have not obtained their university entrance qualification at an English-speaking school must provide proof of English language skills by completing the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The following minimum scores are required:
- Internet-based "New Generation TOEFL Test" with a minimum score of 72 points
- the IELTS Academic test with an overall score of at least 5.5 and a minimum score of 5.0 in each competence area.
Proofs and Certificates of German Language Skills
In addition, a command of the German language is also an admission requirement. This is deemed to be proven
if
- the university entrance qualification was obtained at a German-speaking institution or
- the previous university degree was obtained in a predominantly German-language degree programme or
- the German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education (DSH 2) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or equivalent examinations in accordance with the Regulations for the German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education (DSH) at FH Aachen, as amended, can be proven.
