Application and Admission
The Industrial Engineering degree programme is an admission-restricted programme. This means that only a limited number of places at university are available. In order to be able to apply for a degree programme, you must meet certain admission requirements. We will be happy to explain to you which requirements you need to fulfil and how you can then apply for a place at university.
Admission Requirements Industrial Engineering 3 semesters
Bachelor Programme
a) mechanical engineering or a related engineering degree programme or
b) Industrial Engineering and Management, subject area Mechanical Engineering
If the basic knowledge of business administration has not been proven at the time of the aptitude test, this can be made up in the first semester of the degree programme. Proof of basic knowledge is a prerequisite for participation in the examinations of the second semester.
Final Grade
The final grade of the examination achievements in the degree programme must be at least 2.7 or a comparable grade in other grading systems. The Examination Board of the Faculty of Business Studies decides on the comparability of degree programmes and final grades after consultation with the Admissions Committee.
German Language Skills
Another requirement for admission to the degree programme is a sufficient command of the German language. This is deemed to be proven if
- the university entrance qualification was obtained at a German-speaking institution or
- the previous university degree was obtained in a predominantly German-language degree programme or
- the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH 2) or equivalent examinations in accordance with the Regulations for the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH) at FH Aachen, as amended, are proven.
Admission Requirements Industrial Engineering 4 Semesters
A Professionally Qualifying University Degree with at least 180 Credits
a) in economics with a combination of subjects such as procurement, controlling, production, logistics, human resources, business informatics, organisation, corporate management or similar, i.e. course content with a production-related focus. At least 45 credit points must be thematically assigned to this specialisation. Of the 45 credit points, up to 15 credit points can be recognised on the basis of relevant professional experience. Or
b) Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering degree programme or
c) industrial engineering with subject areas in mechanical engineering
Final Grade
The final grade of the examination achievements in the degree programme must be at least 2.7 or a comparable grade in other grading systems. The Application Procedure
Industrial Engineering 3 Semesters
The application for the Master's degree programme Industrial Engineering - 3 semesters is generally only possible for the summer semester. Please refer to the Admission and Examination Regulations for detailed information on the admission requirements and programme content before submitting your application.
Application deadline:
15 January (15 December for applicants with a non-European university degree)
To the application portal for Master's degree programmes
It is also possible to submit an application before completing your first professionally qualifying degree. The final proofs and certificates must be submitted to the Registrar's Office by 15 April (for the summer semester) at the latest. Applicants who have not completed their first university degree will participate in the allocation procedure for places at university with their current average grade.

Industrial Engineering 4 Semesters
The application for the Master's degree programme Industrial Engineering - 4 semesters is generally only possible for the winter semester. Please refer to the Admission and Examination Regulations for detailed information on the admission requirements and programme content before submitting your application.
Application deadline:
15 July (15 June for applicants with a non-European university degree)

If you are applying for the 4-semester degree programme with a degree in Business Administration, please complete the document and upload it to the application portal together with your CV.
It is also possible to submit an application before you have completed your first professionally qualifying degree. The final proofs and certificates must be submitted to the Registrar's Office by 15 October (for the winter semester) at the latest. Applicants who have not completed their first university degree will participate in the allocation procedure for places at university with their current average grade.
