Application and Admission

The International Business Management - Finance, Accounting, Control, Taxation degree programme is an admission-restricted degree programme. Accordingly, only a limited number of places are available. In order to apply for a degree programme, you must meet certain admission requirements. We will be happy to explain to you which requirements you must meet and how you can then apply for a university place.

 

Admission Requirements

Degree

You need a degree in a Bachelor's degree programme of at least six semesters (or equivalent degree) in a degree programme in Business Studies or a closely related subject with qualifying examination results from a German or foreign higher education institution with a degree that is at least equivalent to a German university of applied sciences degree (Fachhochschulabschluss).

 

Grade

The overall grade of your Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) must be at least the grade 2.5.

 

German Language Skills

You must provide proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language. Proof is considered to have been provided if

 

  • the university entrance qualification was acquired at a German-speaking school, or
  • a degree from a German-language higher education institution has been acquired, or
  • pursuant to the "Regulations for the German Language Examination for University Admission at FH Aachen" (DSH, Ordnung für die Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) in the currently valid version, German language skills have been acquired in accordance with DSH-2, or
  • you are the holder of a certificate confirming the successful completion of the Goethe-Zertifikat C2, or
  • you are the holder of a certificate confirming the successful completion of the examination "telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule", or
  • there is a TestDaF passed with a result of at least TDN 4 in all partial examinations, or
  • proof of an equivalent examination can be provided.

English Language Skills

English Language Skills

You must provide proof of sufficient English language skills. Proof is considered to have been provided if

  • the university entrance qualification was obtained at an English-language school, or
  • at least 30 credit points have been earned in an English-language degree programme, or
  • the internet-based "New Generation TOEFL Test" has been passed with a minimum score of 80 points, or
  • the IELTS examination with at least a Band 6.0 assessment has been passed, or
  • the Cambridge English: First (FCE) Certificate with at least Grade B has been passed, or
  • the English entrance examination of Sprachenakademie Aachen has been passed, or
  • Business English at Level B2 totalling 5 credit points has been successfully passed with a grade of at least 2.5.

Proof of knowledge of the English language from the (Fach-)Abitur is not sufficient!

Professional Requirements

During the Bachelor's course of study, you must have acquired at least 10 credit points in the modules Mathematics and Statistics, at least 10 credit points in Economics, and at least 7.5 credit points in Taxes/Law. You must also be able to prove that you have acquired a combined total of at least 19 credit points in the modules Marketing, Procurement, Production, Logistics, Organisation and Human Resources.


Unfortunately, it is not possible to make up missing ECTS points during the Master's degree programme.

Special Admission Requirements

In derogation from the above-mentioned regulations, students from partner universities that do not award a Bachelor's degree after six semesters are granted admission to the Master's degree programme IBM-FACT, provided that they

a) present a certificate from the partner university, approved by the International Faculty Office of the Faculty of Business Studies, stating that they have been admitted to a Master's degree programme in Business Studies with a double degree from FH Aachen at the partner university,

        and

b) provide proof of 180 ECTS from a Bachelor's degree programme in Business Studies.

 

 

The Application Procedure

As a general rule, applications for the Master's degree programme International Business Management - Finance, Accounting, Control, Taxation are possible for both the winter semester and the summer semester. Before applying, please refer to the Admission and Examination Regulations for detailed information on the respective admission requirements and degree programme contents.


Application Deadline:

15 January for the summer semester (15 December for applicants with a non-European university degree)

15 July for the winter semester (15 June for applicants with a non-European university degree).

Proof of German and English language skills is relevant for the application, as the degree programme's language of instruction and for examinations is German for one semester and English for one semester.

We only accept the English and German certificates listed in the Admission Regulations. Information on the English entrance examination offered by the Language Centre of the FH Aachen (Sprachenzentrum der FH Aachen) as well as the next examination dates can be found here.

An application is also possible before the completion of the first professionally qualifying degree. The final certificate has to be submitted to the Registrar's Office by 15 April (for the summer semester) or 15 October (for the winter semester) at the latest. Applicants without a completed first university degree will participate in the allocation procedure for study places with their current average grade.
