The standard degrees awarded at German universities are Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, with Master’s degree programmes building on Bachelor’s degree programmes.
FH Aachen offers various types of degree programmes: Bachelor’s/Master’s of Science (B.Sc., M.Sc.), Bachelor’s/Master’s of Engineering (B.E., M.E.) and Bachelor’s/Master’s of Arts (B.A., M.A.).
In addition to full-time study, FH Aachen also offers dual study programmes (with integrated training and extra-occupational degree programmes, or with integrated practical experience) as well as part-time degree programmes.
A degree programme is divided into several semesters. There are two semesters per year: the winter semester and the summer semester. Most degree programmes begin in the autumn (September/October) with the winter semester.
A semester consists of several modules. Each module focuses on a specific topic and may comprise lectures, tutorials and practical trainings. As a rule, all modules conclude with an examination. Students who successfully complete a module receive a certain number of credits and a mark, which are credited to their “study account”.
FH Aachen is an on-campus university. Most courses and classes are held in the university's buildings at the Aachen and Jülich campuses. Innovative digital elements complement the on-site teaching.
