Erasmus+ offers financial support to students who would like to complete practical training in a European country. Grants are available for travelling expenses as well as living costs during the practical training.

HAW.International

The aim of the programme is to support students at universities of applied sciences in carrying out internships abroad. Funding is provided for practical training in the private and public sector in two programme tracks:
Internship track A
Applications with full-time internships obtained on your own initiative.
Internship track B
You can apply for up to two advertised internship opportunities.

DAAD travel grants for internships abroad

The grant for travel expenses is a one-off payment. The amount of funding depends on your destination country. Only students who have been placed for an internship outside Europe via the organisation IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) are eligible to apply.

DAAD

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is one of the largest funding organisations for the international exchange of students and academics. It offers comprehensive information on opportunities for study, practical and research stays abroad and awards a large number of scholarships. You can find these and scholarship programmes from other organisations in the DAAD scholarship database.
RISE worldwide - international research internships

The programme is aimed at Bachelor's students who would like to gain valuable practical experience during the summer semester break. The practical trainings last between one and a half and three months and are offered by researchers from accredited university institutes and research organisations worldwide. The working language is usually English. The DAAD supports you by arranging internships and offering scholarships to make it easier for you to access these exciting opportunities.

Foreign BAföG

Financial support is also available for students who complete their compulsory internship abroad. For this, the practical training must last at least twelve weeks if it is completed outside the EU.
The higher funding rates for a stay abroad mean that students who do not receive funding at home are also eligible for BAföG.

Fulbright Germany

Fulbright Germany offers various scholarships for a research or teaching stay in the USA.

IAESTE internships abroad

IAESTE, International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience, is an international organisation that arranges paid practical training abroad for science and engineering students. Students receive comprehensive counselling and support from local committees both in their home country and in the destination country. The practical trainings usually last two to three months and take place mainly in the summer.

The Studienstiftung offers a number of open scholarship programmes, also in cooperation with external partners, for which you can usually also apply if you have not previously been funded by the Studienstiftung.

Japan: Study Centre for German-Japanese Cultural Exchange in NRW e.V.

The Studienwerk für Deutsch-Japanischen Kulturaustausch in NRW e.V. , in cooperation with the Studienfonds Düsseldorf - Japan , offers young professionals with an interest in Japan initial insights into Japanese culture and business.
As part of a four-week scholarship programme, which usually takes place from the end of September to mid-October , participants get to know Japan, its way of life and working environment. The stay in Japan includes a study trip through various Japanese cities - also off the beaten track - and a short period of practical training in Tokyo. Israel: New Kibbutz - practical trainings in Israeli start-ups

The programme gives you the opportunity to complete practical training in innovative Israeli start-ups and high-tech companies (with the exception of the areas in northern Israel and the border area with the Gaza Strip, for which partial travel warnings apply).
"New Kibbutz" is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and organised by the DAAD in cooperation with the German-Israeli Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) and the Israeli Embassy in Berlin.
