Biochemistry
Biochemistry describes the molecular basis of life. In doing so, it uses chemical, physical and biological methods. The subject is of great importance for many biotechnological disciplines, but also fundamental in medicine, nutritional sciences, agriculture, ecology and economics.
Therefore, the biochemistry laboratory is the start of the BIOPioneer teaching project in the biotechnology degree programme. Here, the focus is on independent and semester-spanning project work, in that scientific work is a central component of university education.
Attached to the biochemistry laboratory are biochemical and molecular biology research laboratories where current and socially relevant research questions are pursued.
