SeCaRa and FH Aachen Launch Research Collaboration on Advanced Plastic Recycling

On January 23, 2025, the founders of SeCaRa, Marcus Lehnert and Jan Uecker, visited the Bioprocess Engineering group (BVT) at FH Aachen to initiate a research collaboration aimed at advancing chemical recycling technologies for complex plastic waste streams.

SeCaRa, a pioneering startup based in Aachen, is developing scalable chemical recycling technologies to address the challenges of recycling high-value technical polymers from industrial applications, such as automotive and electronics sectors. Their innovative process focuses on separating and recycling difficult-to-process plastics, including mixed waste streams, polymer blends, and reinforced polymers like glass fiber composites.During their visit to FH Aachen's Jülich campus, SeCaRa's founders engaged with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Nils Tippkötter and the BVT team to explore collaborative opportunities. The discussion centered on leveraging BVT's advanced laboratory infrastructure  to elevate SeCaRa's technology readiness level (TRL). The collaboration aims to integrate SeCaRa's chemical recycling processes.
