Examination modalities

All exam registrations are carried out online. Written registrations are no longer accepted.

Please note that you can register for examinations even if you have not yet completed the necessary prerequisites, such as completed core studies 1 or a module-related project. In this case, your registration will be marked with a "V". The "V" stands for reservation. It is your sole responsibility to have completed and provided proof of all preliminary work by the time of the examination. As long as your registration is marked with a "V", you are not authorised to take the examination for which you have registered. It is your sole responsibility to have completed and provided proof of all preliminary work before the examination.

Legitimation
The RPO (2018) regulates the legitimation of examinees in § 16:
(6) The examinee must identify himself/herself at the request of the examiner or the supervisor with a registration certificate and either an official photo ID or an FH card with a photograph.

Attempted cheating
Attempted cheating is regulated in § 22 RPO (2018): (3) If the student attempts to influence the result of his/her examination by cheating, the examination achievements in question shall be assessed as insufficient (5.0). Anyone who disrupts the orderly conduct of the examination may be excluded from continuing the examination by the respective examiner or invigilator after a warning; in this case, the examination achievement in question shall be assessed as insufficient (5.0). The reasons for the exclusion must be recorded.

Electronic communication devices
All devices that are suitable for communicating information (mobile phone, smartwatch, tablet, etc.) must be switched off during the written examination and may not be worn on the body or placed on the table. Non-compliance is an attempt to cheat and will be penalised accordingly.

Leaving the rooms
Candidates may leave the examination room to visit the nearest toilet after consultation with the invigilator. Every time they leave the room, the time and name or student ID number will be recorded.

Seating arrangements
It is the responsibility of the examiner or invigilator to allocate the seats. The seating arrangement can be recorded in a seating plan.

Writing utensils
An examination must be written using suitable writing utensils. After consultation, writing with a pencil is permitted, but erasable ink rollers (e.g. Pilot Frixion) are not permitted.

Inability to take an examination due to illness after the start of the examination

In accordance with RPO § 22 - Failure, Withdrawal, Cheating, Violation of Regulations No. (2) sentences 3-5, the following applies:
"If the student cancels the examination due to illness after the start of the examination, the supervisor must be informed of the cancellation. In the event of cancellation after the start of the examination, the student must immediately undergo a medical examination. If the Examination Board recognises the reasons, the examination attempt is deemed not to have been taken."
In order for the Examination Board to recognise the reasons for the inability to take the examination, sufficient medical justification is required in the "Additional information, if applicable" field on the form for proof of inability to take the examination due to illness. The Examination Board reserves the right to enquire in case of doubt; you have a duty to cooperate in this matter.
