Anniversary meeting 2015
50-year engineering anniversary
On 12 September 2015, a group of graduates from the former Staatliche Ingenieurschule Aachen (SIS), the predecessor of FH Aachen, which was founded in 1971, celebrated the 50th anniversary of their engineering degrees at their old (university) school.
Twenty-two engineers from the 1965 graduating class turned up, some with their partners, and looked at both the familiar ("This is where we sat back then and this is where our cupboards were") and the new ("You only speak English now").
Prof Kallweit showed and explained his unmanned autonomous aerial vehicles and let our visitors fly over the Goethestrasse site using data goggles. The GoetheLab team demonstrated 3D printing. Everyone had heard of it before, but most had never got this close to this technology.
As Dean, Prof Gebhardt explained the current structure of the university and the faculties. During a cosy coffee break, there were many comparisons between today and then, so that those working today could add another piece of the mosaic to their picture of FH Aachen.
