Borrowing, Ordering & Reserving

Borrowing Media

As a student of a university in North Rhine-Westphalia or as a resident of the Aachen-Jülich region, you can borrow media from us.

You can borrow available media either independently at our self-service terminals or have them booked by the staff at the circulation desks during service hours. In order to borrow media, you need an FH Karte.

The loan period is usually four weeks and can be renewed at any time if the item has not been reserved. You must return the media items to the library after 24 weeks at the latest.

As a general rule, borrowing is free of charge. Fees are due on the first day the loan period has been exceeded.

An overview of your loans and loan periods can be found in your library account.

Reservations

If you find media in the Catalogue PLUS that are already on loan, use the button "Reserve" in the detailed view. After clicking on "Reserve", you will be asked to enter your FH Identifier and the corresponding password.

As soon as the media item is available for you, you will receive an email. You can pick it up from the collection shelf and borrow it at any time within seven days.

Please cancel the reservation in your library account if you do not need the item after all.

You will receive an overview of your reservations in your library account.

Media cannot be found?

If you are looking for an item marked "Available" in Catalogue PLUS but cannot find it on the shelf (please note the special locations in the detailed view), it might currently be in use by someone else.

If you still cannot find it on the shelf at a later date, please drop us a mail at bibauskunftfh-aachen.de.

If we find the item, you will receive a notification by email. If it cannot be found, you can order it via interlibrary loan from another library or send us an acquisition request.
