Gleichstellungsquote

The Higher Education Act of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia contains the regulation of a subject-related equality quota. The aim is to increase the proportion of women in professorships at universities and universities of applied sciences in NRW. The quota is based on the so-called "cascade model": the proportion of women at the next lower qualification level is the target quota for filling professorships. The equality quota is to be applied to future appointment procedures. Each higher education institution determines the period of time - usually three years - within which the target is to be achieved.
