Intersexualität

The term intersex refers to biological peculiarities in gender differentiation. Intersex bodies therefore have characteristics of the female and male sex. These are therefore people whose gender appearance from birth, with regard to chromosomes, gonads, hormone production and body shape, is not only male or only female, but appears to be a mixture. In Germany, since 22 December 2018, in addition to leaving the gender entry open, it has also been possible to choose divers. On 22 May 2021, a fundamental ban on gender reassignment surgery for intersexual children who are unable to give consent came into force in Germany.
