Health Insurance

If you want to study at FH Aachen, you have to prove at the time of registration that you

• are insured in a statutory health insurance,
• are exempt from compulsory insurance or
• are not subject to compulsory insurance.

The legal basis for this can be found in § 199 a of the 5th Social Security Code (SGB V).

The proof is digitally transmitted to FH Aachen via SMV (Studenten-Melde-Verfahren) by a statutory health insurance.

To do so, contact your health insurance company with the request to send the insurance confirmation to FH Aachen via SMV.

If you are privately insured or insured abroad, please also contact a German statutory health insurance company with a request for exemption from compulsory insurance.

A separate FH Aachen dispatch number is required for communication with the health insurance companies. This is H0000947.

Registration without the digital notification of the insurance status is generally not possible.

The following data is passed on in the reports:

• Reporting semester
• Name
• Address
• Gender
• Date of birth
• Start of semester
• Date of registration
• Exmatriculation date
• End date of the de-registration semester.

If students do not pay their health insurance contributions properly, FH Aachen will be informed and a request will be made to meet the obligations within a deadline. If this request is not complied with, the legal consequence in case of non-payment is that the student will be compulsorily de-registered.
