Adnan Boxwala, Master Mechatronics

Situated in western Germany and home to a large number of students, Aachen creates an atmosphere conducive to learning. I arrived in Aachen in 2016 to pursue a Master’s in Mechatronics at the Fachhochschule (FH). Having completed a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering in India, I found the culture at FH Aachen refreshingly different, where students are encouraged to tackle problems on their own, with professors always approachable and happy to answer questions.

The program is designed to provide a deeper understanding of the various aspects involved in the development of mechatronic systems, while also offering the opportunity to find a niche owing to the vast variety of modules offered. More importantly, the skills and knowledge gained by students align with the current demands of the industry. As the largest university of Applied Sciences in Germany, great emphasis is given to practical work. Over the course of the program, students have the chance to work on various projects in groups of 2-4 under the guidance of professors and participate in summer schools, which not only give a significant boost to resumes and profiles, but also help develop soft skills.

After graduation, I started working in Bavaria as a software developer in the automotive industry, owing to the interdisciplinary nature of the program. Apart from academics, there are tons of opportunities to enjoy life in Aachen as interesting activities and fun events are held all year round. Life in Aachen never gets boring. As an alumnus of FH Aachen, I would highly recommend the Mechatronics Master’s degree program to anyone who has been offered the opportunity.
