Polymer Analytics
In our modern laboratory for preparative polymer chemistry and polymer analytics, students can learn practical working methods of macromolecular synthesis as well as their characterisation. The practical work includes the correct set-up of the synthesis apparatus as well as the preparative execution of the syntheses. Here, for example, an understanding of the various underlying reaction mechanisms of the syntheses carried out is conveyed. This includes radical and anionic polymerisation, polycondensation and polyaddition, but also special types such as suspension polymerisation or emulsion polymerisation. The students also learn how to analyse and characterise the manufactured products to ensure that their experiments are successful. For this purpose, the laboratory for polymer chemistry also has air-conditioned testing and measuring rooms with various analytical devices.
